Well the entire college /university model is a sham.

I caught grief decades ago when I said to people that there should be no such thing as athletic scholarships.

I also caught grief for stating that there should be no affirmative action in college admissions.

If everyone played on a level playing field where a person could only be admitted to a certain college based only on merit we would not have this NIL tax problem.

Also all sports teams would be walks ons .

This is complete bullshite. They are already on state tax dollars with scholarships. Now we want to exempt baby back bitch millionaires from paying state taxes.

Oh for fricks sake.

Nope. Do not like this at all. I hate Republicounts so much. When they finally get power, they do stupid shite like this. Useless and helps nobody.

Though it’s is surprising this isn’t being led by Dems hoping to redistribute wealth to black athletes (and Dems might still be supporting these but I have looked at vote) this is a little misleading as it’s being done by the states, and Arkansas has had Republican governors for awhile and Rs seem to dominate the legislative branch as well.

Sure it's less about even luring the athletes as stretching the dollars of the super rich people paying the absurd NIL sums.

Just example 1 million of politicians talking about helping everyday folks but the actual money trail saying the opposite.

These no tax laws are bullshite. And just a reminder that we place too much emphasis on sports. These people are professionals now. Treat them as such.

It only benefits one demographic.

It’s reparations. Just another form.

Y’all need to keep up.

The demographic it benefits is the rich people paying the NIL.

It's to make their million dollar contribution go farther than rich person in state without this absurd law.

I stopped giving them money a couple of years ago. Don’t give them anything. Find something else to do on Saturday in the fall.

And these professionals are still getting a free education and free access to all the athletic stuff that our money pays for. They most definitely should be paying taxes.

Arkansas' NIL for football has struggled mightily. I wonder how much pressure was applied to get this through

Stop donating to NIL funds. That’s the only thing we can do at this point.

Also, athletes making above a certain amount in NIL should forfeit their scholarship. I’d rather the walk-on making nothing in NIL, at least have his education paid for.

So the kid getting the money isnt benefiting?

Ok, thanks for your input.

Also, the real trick isnt their "dollar going farther".

The trick is that they give money to all these kids who have no financial education and neither do their parents.

The people funding these deals know this wholeheartedly. They also know that money will be back in their pockets via other means because these clowns will spend it all by 30.

They can give these kids millions knowing 98% of them will blow it back into the economy and they will then make it back in profits somewhere else.

Rich people tricks.

The NIL they are being paid isn’t true NIL but is pay to play. For most part their NIL isn’t worth nearly as much as schools are paying them to play sports.

prime is rarely right but when he said his son and travis hunter were two of the only true "NIL" guys in the country, he wasn't wrong

We all know the logic is to give teams in the states passing these laws a recruiting advantage.

If a player takes 500K to play at Arkansas instead of 600K to play at Missouri because of the tax difference, who benefits?

The person writing the 500K instead of 600k NIL checks.

To be fair, before NIL, players weren't paying taxes on monies received either.

All I'm saying is simply:

Bills like this are to give Arkansas recruiting/maintaining rosters a boost by making Arkansas NIL $ stretch farther than Missouri NIL $.

If Arkansas gets an athlete in competition with Missouri using less total NIL expenditure that mainly helps:

1) Arkansas athletics

2) Arkansas boosters writing the checks to NIL collectives

3) Some players may benefit but this will 100% be used in negotiating with agents: "your client would be better put to accept the 500k offer from Arkansas than the 600K offer from Missouri due to tax differences"

I get it, one state has advantages in college football recruiting.

Who cares?

It’s not like anyone can truly beat the south anyways in sport.
