I really like Silo but that's about it. Masters of the Air was barely above average.

I agree. Usually really good stuff.

Get one or two streaming services at a time and swap it up monthly. There is no reason to carry them all at the same time.
I don't have time to even watch everything on the few services I do have. Once I do and there's nothing left, I'll just cancel. I'm enjoying some of the free ones too.... Like Tubi.

I'm enjoying Severance as much as any show I've watched before, but it falls off after that. Ted Lasso was fun for a couple seasons, and the wife watched Morning Show. Not much else there to watch.
Not a fan of Silo.

They also have this seemingly odd strategy of barely marketing anything.
They’ll just launch some very expensive show with A/B list actors and hardly anyone knows it exists until it gets some word of mouth traction

It 100% does. About the only streaming service that values quality over quantity. Almost everything they put out is good.

Maybe they are losing money cause a lot of the content is woke BS.
All of the streaming services are serving up woke BS to some degree or another.
Apple TV (IMO) does a decent job of weaving it into what are often really good stories.
As opposed to ramming nth-waive feminism and LGBTQDIAF in your face infomercial-style like Disney and Netflix do.

I can entertain myself with free YouTube

If this fricks with severance we may have to burn Cupertino to the ground.

They do but a lot of their hits are aimed at audiences that don't necessarily like their other hits. It's like HBO in the 1990s - people that loved Sopranos didn't necessarily like Sex in the City.
Smart on their part to grow their subscriber base because they have something for almost everyone, but it means they need to work hard to keep those different markets by constantly creating new content for each of those different groups. If they can do that, they will be a dominant player while the others (Netflix in particular) grow stagnant over the next decade.
I do appreciate that their proprietary offerings are usually very good quality even if I don't always like them.
agreed with this. their batting average is higher than netflix, prime, peacock, and even Max, but they have fewer at bats with way less series, movies, docs coming out at a time.
usually they only have 2 series with new episodes where as netflix releases multiple a week.

Not a fan of Silo.
Severance is one of the best shows in recent memory, on any station/service.
I wasn't a fan of Morning Show or Silo either, however...
Dark Matter - Top tier Sci-Fi TV
Foundation - Not my favorite but most people loved it
Black Bird - Incredible
The Offer - Great mini-series, especially if you were a fan of The Godfather movies
Mythic Quest - Very funny show with Mac from Always Sunny
Slow Horses - Creative spy show
Shrinking - Hilarious, one of my favorite comedies

There's too many streaming services...people have to pick and choose. Apple just looks like it is on the short end here.
That is the answer.
Apple didn’t realize people want cheap and free entertainment with what they are currently paying for.
Even if they offered the service free with ads they would still be struggling to make a profit.
That is where traditional media avenues still have the keys to success.
Streaming exclusively to apps can only drive so much traffic and then there is the expense of secured streaming that makes streaming an expensive product. It is not just about having a server in the cloud dishing out streams. Now everything involves SSL certificates and variable bit rate encoding where if you are in the boon docks with a crappy cell connection or on 6G cellular in downtown NYC. All that streaming costs money, and server farms of localized data centers to lessen the distance between the end user and the content.
The sad part is if Amazon is not making money on its streaming platforms, then they have serious issues. They own their own streaming services through AWS. Streaming anything video through AWS can get expensive really quick for a small content producer.

Getting rid of apple after severance ends.

I agree that their quality is usually excellent, but their back catalog is so small (compared to nearly every other streaming service, big or small) there’s no reason to keep a subscription longer than a month or two at a time. It’s the easiest one to watch and cancel.

Well I have Apple , Paramount, Prime, Netflix, Max, and Peacock.
Apples goes after severance. Paramount goes after 1923. Peacock is free.

Apple has a three-fold issue.
1) They don't have the depth of content other platforms have and usually it's exclusively their original shows. So the only way people are finding their content is word of mouth or ads.
2) Their shows have A-list actors and are high quality, but those cost a ton of money to make.
3) Since their shows are all Apple exclusives, they're not making any money licensing them out to other platforms, the only income for them is streaming subs. I don't even think they have outside ads either, meaning even less revenue.
Apple's smartest move would be buying Disney and merging all the content together. They have the apps and capability.

Apple has enough cash to cover these losses for decades. It’s a slow climb but I think people will eventually see the value compared to the other streamers. As many mentioned it’s quality over quantity, but also a dedication to let shows play out. Netflix lets the algorithm cancel a show that debuts in the top 10 with excellent reviews.

So many amazon prime shows have a hallmark low quality mass produced type quality to them.
Most of the streaming services original content after 2019 all seems fake and gay.

Apple is incredible. There's not been a show they have made that was bad.
