Some of the most respected geologists in the world suspect that very valuable moon rocks lie just under the surface.

I don't think we need to be drilling on the moon for a damn moon rock. That's just what we need these days is to screw up the tides of the oceans, which would be our luck.

Several months before launch, during a geological trip to Hawaii, Charlie Duke had a strange dream – a haunting, through not nightmarish dream, which he would later recount for an Al Reinert film, For All Mankind. Whilst in Hawaii, he came down with flu and ran a high fever; at times he was almost delirious. In his dream, Duke and Young were on the Moon, driving the rover up to the north. “It was untouched,” he said. “The serenity of it had a kind of a pristine purity about it.” They continued to bounce across this endless landscape until, startled, they came upon a set of tracks in the ancient dust, which they promptly followed. After an hour or so, they came to a vehicle. It looked just like the rover, with two people inside, who looked just like the two astronauts. They had been there for thousands of years.

Bush scrapped the shuttle program. Don't care how many times y'all try to blame Obama, W did that shite. What's even worse... the shuttle program was 40 years of waste, because look at us now, back to rockets. Not to mention that included a decade of riding up to the iss on a fricking 60s era soyuz.

And would you like to hear about Reagan era NASA budget slashing that doomed us into having an ISS instead of space station freedom? I can give you those details, from the perspective of someone whose grandpa was head of one the big 3 aerospace companies space station department. We've been failing in space since the mid 70s. So thank Nixon on down.

Was it not rockets that got the space shuttle into orbit?

I am waiting for you to thanks Bush for ending that wastefull project.

Personally, I think the Space Shuttle Program was invaluable in building the ISS and other projects such as the Hubble repairs. The space shuttle combined a mobile space crane with unmatched cargo transport capabilities.

Simple photography, the exposure setting required to capture the bright surface of the moon prevents the dim light from the stars showing up on film.

that or :tinfoilhat:

When people type it like that, they're making fun of the dipshits who would be saying things like that. You know, the simple crowd who thinks they have everything figured out in one giant conspiracy.

Wow, beautiful restoration. Thanks

FYI for the yutes out there—this dash cam footage was not broadcast live at the time, just the audio.

After the astronauts parked, they aligned the rover antenna towards Earth so we could see them walk around live.

I love how I am supposed to believe a guy who just traveled by rocket ship from Earth to the Moon is getting excited because his rover is going up a rocky, crater heavy hill.

There is a reason that footage looks fake...because it is!
