I’m not much of a foodie. So when I travel for work I sometimes just go where people I’m working with recommend. Absent that, any place that doesn’t look sketchy or nasty will usually do.

I don’t eat at chains where I live. I can’t imagine eating at one on vacation or work travel.

It’s weird.

we caught on that she ordered cheese fries every night

Not gonna lie. I wouldn’t mind eating cheese fries for dinner every night. That sounds amazing.

CSB

When my dad first moved us from West Monroe (party central) to Huntsville, he went out of town with some of the other engineers/architects in his firm. They were sitting around the hotel and he mentioned maybe going out and grabbing a beer.

He said they all looked at him like he wanted to go to a whorehouse.

Not EVERY meal on a vacation or during travel has to be some super unique restaurant.

My work travel, when it happens, takes me to San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Nashville, etc. Not in a suburb or outskirt, but the heart of downtown. So even if I wanted a chain, I'd have to actively seek it out.

I have no issue with chains. Eat PF Changs 1-2 times a year, Flemings happy hour from time to time, Chick Fil A fairly regularly, etc. I even love McDonalds probably once a month. I am by no means pretentious about it chains.

But I can't imagine being in the heart of downtown in the above cities and ordering a $20+ Uber to find a Chili's. Even when I go somewhere slightly smaller (Oceanside, Carlsbad, Burbank, etc), I'm still in areas with endless amounts of options a stone's throw away so it would be silly to pass them up for Chili's. Y'all act like it takes ~sooo~ much work to open up the Yelp app and pick a restaurant rated highly. It is no more work than opening up your Waze to map to Chili's.

Now - I entirely understand if you travel to shite places not wanting to take a risk on the local run down restaurants.

That said, care to answer my question why these restaurants that microwave everything need such large kitchen staffs?

Ask your wife.

Do you realize how much of an idiot you are to think these restaurants no matter how shitty their food is are just microwaving entire entrees? Good lord you are an idiot.

There's an internet meme going around that makes the easily influenced believe it's fact.

Maybe not but you have to be an idiot to believe this as well....

For some reason you want to believe this so badly someone could post a video of the food in a shitty chain restaurant actually being cooked to order and you would still stick to your guns. It’s strange.

I’d put it on par with the guy who says only 10% of local restaurants are better than chains.

Extremes are fun, huh?

Not every local restaurant is some amazing dining experience. Most do suck. Just look at Kitchen Nightmares, those are all local restaurants with the moldy lettuce, spoiled fish, incompetent kitchens and filthy refrigerators.

Dude.

Kitchen Nightmares is an enjoyable show, but it's not telling of every mom-and-pop local joint out there. It's the worst of the worst.
