Work is less than 10 miles round trip. It'll just be a garage queen, but I want something thats good for the next 15yrs.

I have always had a truck as a daily until about five years ago. Last was a Silverado LTZ. Finally dumped it, bough a car for daily and found a 25 year old Ford 4x4 an old man was selling on Craigslist. Garage kept with 100K miles. It stays in the garage and when I need it it’s there. Cost about $8K with purchase and upgrades. I put about 1500 miles on it a year for the last 5 years. Thing will be good for another 200K at least with maintenance. Highly recommend.

I sit at a computer for work, and I have 2 trucks.

I used both of them today.

Does the need to compensate for something constitute as a "real need"?

I have a crew cab. Back seat is nice for groceries or when it's raining. I use the bed at least once a week hauling big shite that would have been impossible or simply a nightmare in my old SUV.

But if you're not sure if you need a truck then you probably don't need one.

I used to have one but traded it in 5 years ago. Ive never regretted it. One time since then I needed a load of dirt and some sod. Rented a pickup from u-haul for $20.

Didn’t need the truck to commute to work and the vehicles we now have can do 99% of what I was doing with the truck.

get a short wheel base regular cab truck and you will be happy you did

if you dont use it why pay a shite ton extra for 4dr truck or long bed you never use

all the extended or extra cab truck does is collect shite you never save so its always full of crap back there

I have a full size but it’s not my daily driver. I love the big interior and the bed comes in handy but I’m considering trading it in for a Tacoma and using that as my daily driver.

Ah, are you paying for it? Then get what you want and quit laboring over something so foolish.

95% of the people with 1/2 tons don’t need them. It’s the “keeping up with the jones” facade their trying to display.

If that was the case then why wouldn't they drop the money on a sports car instead

I downsized from a Tundra to a Tacoma three years ago and haven't missed it one bit.

Do it.

I have absolutely no need for a truck but I bought one. Love driving it. I do plan to get a jet ski in the next year or two though. Also buying a house and will probably use it to help move stuff, but otherwise have no need for it

I have a full-size Silverado crew cab with a 5.3 in it and I got it cuz it rides better than anything I've ever owned. You set the cruise on 80 on the interstate and it's like being on my couch at home.

I have one scratch in the bed from buying a new water heater that had sand on the bottom of the box

Had a silverado from 06 to last year. The last few times we hauled things we used a trailer to not have to lift things into the bed. Now we have an SUV that pulls the boat and if we need a bed capacity we use a trailer.
