Meh. I cleared by the skin of my teeth on primary income.
Secondary income is a little different. I just run every expense possible through business.

Nope.
We have remained gainfully employed with a substantial household income......we aren’t the target group. I’m ok with it.

I can afford the kids and I am rewarded each year with the $2000 per kid child tax credit making my effective tax rate negative.

Great so you’re good with continuing to give handouts because you somehow made it in life? Look, our income was mid $200s last year on our taxes. We paid like 60k+ in and I think I still owed additional by the time we filed.
But my both my wife’s sisters who do nothing but sit home and breed, get $1200 plus $500 for every kid they had?
Nah man. That’s BS. My wife is out there hitting the pavement working but she is penalized.
This is nothing but a communist producer penalty. I’m a Trump voter but this is BS.

The people that are receiving the checks are going to use it to buy groceries, pay their light bill, their water bill and their phone bill. They're gonna use it to pay their rent or mortgage, pay their car note, their phone bill and their cable bill.
This check isn't about an individual, it's about whose bills they're gonna pay with the money. This check is really for the power companies, banks, communication companies, landlords, and farmers.
You and I are going to pay those bills anyway whether we received the check or not. But you and I aren't enough to keep all those industries afloat on our own.
Tell the truth, if you got that money, you'd probably just save it, or invest it. That's not stimulating anyone. haha

Yea I am. We pay a shitload of tax and we have a daughter and not getting a dime while people who don’t want to work with tons of kids get more tax money but hey what’s new?
I’m not pissed at the people who were laid off or furloughed etc who really need it

Man I got all excited yesterday, I got a $250 check from the IRS and thought somehow I was getting something from the stimulus, turns out I overpaid in 2015 lol.
Was a nice surprise though.

How do you feel about people who are working but not making quite as much as you getting a stimulus check?

I agree. I’ve paid soooo much in taxes over the years, and now when I need the help from the government, I get nothing.

We have a lot of generalizations in this thread...

I agree, if you make over 100k it seems like you’re more likely to stimulate the economy with $1200 than use it to pay rent or bills.
This isn’t a stimulus check, the point of it was to help people pay bills.

Just sell that dog or give it to the pound.
Problem solved.

That is the seed for universal basic income.

The whole idea of paying people an additional $600 a week for unemployment is ludicrous, and I don’t know how that was put in the Bill and passed!
That's on top of the $200 they already get now, Right?
So now $800/week to be unemployed. Even if you didn't have a job before the virus. I would understand about $500/week if you lost your job due to the virus.
People who didn't have a job before the virus, and people who didn't lose their jobs should not be getting a stimulus check.

No.I'm old.I'm on S.S. I'd take it,but,I have more on my mind than whether I get $1,200 or not.
Similar situation here being retired and getting a pension and my wife, who's not of retirement age, still works full time in an "essential business". We both qualify easily for the check but don't really need it to get by.
Like my brother-in-law said the other day when he and his wife came by for a "social distancing" visit while they were out riding their bikes-----he is still being paid even though he was told to stay home and his wife is drawing SSI. He said he's feeling bad for a couple of his younger neighbors who are employed in the service industry and are drawing no salary and he mentioned splitting his check between them to help them out.
Noble gesture I might add and it making me consider it too since I also have a few neighbors in the same boat.

Anybody who paid more than the payout threshold, i.e. $600-1,200, should be entitled to refund. So the minimum would be $600.00, ceiling $1,200 regardless of income.
The point is you can’t have a discretionary stimulus without being no respecter. Let’s just call it what it truly is...a handout. It’s not a stimulus. And I’m not saying we shouldn’t do it but you’re not stimulating everyone equally.

I probably won't get one and not real upset about it. I would rather see someone out of work with a family and bills to pay get it before me anyway.
