I'm no more informed than anyone else on here. I was in my 30s during the last crash so I remember it pretty vividly though.

Some people are saying this will be a seasonal bug we as a nation have to fight every year. If that’s the case, will it always be this bad?
You also don’t want to reopen everything too soon because then you run the risk of the virus coming back.

It’s going to be there regardless of when you reopen. The point of stay at home is to not overwhelm the health system, not eradicate the virus

We will see spikes no matter what. Unless an effective vaccine comes out. Hence the whole flattening the curve they are beating into our heads

Everything being put in place now is to avoid that. Testing, extra ventilators, beds, etc. This has been brought up in every White House press conference by Fauci as not being a major concern for a “second wave”

We started a national shutdown on January 15th?
My guess is we start seeing easing to an extent in mid May and June 1 in other places that have had more issues.
If we are on 20 straight days of quadruple digit deaths on April 20th, Trump isn’t going to be in a rush to open things up.
I expect a second round of checks to go, although obviously that is a clusterfrick on timing.

I'm not sure about your first question but I do think that we are going to have to start opening things back up in the next month. I think we'll ask high risk people to stay home and continue social distancing, many still working from home and avoiding large crowds.
Maybe we can ask restaurants, theaters etc to operate at half capacity?

It's very possible that we'd end up back where we are I guess. What alternatives do we have though?
We'll need a $12 trillion stimulus package to keep it all shutdown until July. That would wreck our currency as well.
There are no easy answers. I think the best course of action is to take a moderate approach that's somewhere in between. Open up most businesses that aren't in hot zones, leave the hot zones locked down.

I was at a New Orleans & Company luncheon around Mardi Gras where JBE was the speaker. They talked up JBE a ton and thanked him for his help. I can't imagine they'll sit idly by until June/July.
