Yes, seconds after a Ford Explorer did a driver’s side t-bone against a tree. She was dead when another driver and I ran up to the vehicle. Cindy Butts, age 45. I will always remember her name and scenario.

As a police officer yes on suspects we were searching for.
As a civilian no.
The first I "stumbled upon" was a suspect that had robbed a pawn shop at gunpoint and flep after the owner shot him once in the right eyeball.
Looking and never finding him--no dog back then--on a hunch walked down to an area we had searched prior with no luck and be dammnit if he was down there. How he made it that far I will never know.
Found a dead homeless guy in a burn barrel rear end first and animals had started eating south to north.
Thats all I got.

Not me, but had a buddy who found his dad dead the day after Thanksgiving last year. He had Thanksgiving with him at his house the day before and called him the next day and got no answer He said he knew something was wrong and went to his dad's house and found him dead on the kitchen floor.
My friend is a pretty tough, no feelings kind of guy but said that shook him up really bad and it will be an image he'll never forget.

Picked up a dead body in a shrimp trawl in north west Lake Ponchartrain in the mid 1960's. Dragging it to the boat launch and dealing with law enforcement really ruined our day.
But how were the crabs?

Said the guy had two guns, a glock and a silver revolver and it looked like he'd killed himself.
That’s not a typical suicide. Who carries a revolver AND an automatic to take their own life. The shooters must have dropped their guns.

Dead vagrant along the railroad tracks in Shreveport. He died a natural or OD death. Not hit by train

Picking up one of my kids from Strong River today we passed a multi car wreck on the hwy 1 mile from 55. Fire fighters were diverting traffic, told my kids the guy in the truck that had the most damage was just taking a nap (no one was rendering aid and air bags had gone off).

Stumbled upon? No. For some reason though, when I'm fishing and hang up on something kinda hefty and reeling it up I always wonder if it's gonna be a blue bloater. Have every since I've was a kid. Just tree limbs and shite so far. Got a pair of jeans once.

Yea, the only times I’ve seen someone deceased was at a traffic accident and thankfully only twice. Hoping it stays that way. Some of these stories I just can’t imagine.

Davant, sigh. I unfortunately worked at UBT for a while. Rough environment

Had one wash up on beach near me several years ago. Not something you want to see.

RULE #1 on floaters: Do not attempt to recover them, they fall apart and really REALLY stink.
I saw a body in the Mississippi River in Memphis. Turned out to be a fairly famous musician, but for a bit we weren’t sure if it was a human. He’d been in the river several days.

Once while fishing in the Ohio River for catfish
Like others said. Don't touch a floater.
Saw a death happen at an offroad event. They were trying to pull a truck out with a chain. Chain snapped and took out the guy would was stuck. Blew out rear glass and windshield of an old single cab Chevy dually

I found my mom.
Me too. She’d been dead for almost 2 weeks. That’s an odor you never forget ..
My wife’s uncle was visiting her mom and died on the shitter. She called us in a panic so we haul arse over there. Getting a dead dude’s pants pulled up then moving him out to the living room with two wailing ladies is not the best of times.

I found someone who jumped. The body was so contorted and wrong that it took me a second to realize what it was. Then it took me another few hours to realize it was actually someone I worked with and talked to almost every day. Strange and tragic.

My brother and I were hunting in some woods and we were in the middle of nowhere just across the state line road in north Louisiana near Jefferson. We discovered an old graveyard with about a dozen headstones when my little brother was walking alongside me and found himself standing next to a sunken grave with what looked like a kneecap sticking out of the ground. All but one of the headstones were unreadable and the one that was readable was barely readable and we read a date from 1846. We noted where it was and notified the land owner, then after telling my dad, he had us take him out to it. He then went to the county courthouse and filled out some form at the clerks office to notify the coroner. Lost track of it after that.
Never did see an actual body, but the place creeped me out
