Anyone seriously considering moving out of the south

Because of this widespread, senseless violence?
Violence in schools, in gas stations, in the streets….it’s getting out of control and I think it’s about to get much worse. I could carry a pistol, but that doesn’t protect my kids or wife when I’m not around. It’s getting scary. NO, BR, Jackson, Memphis…all scary places and the complete disregard for human life is jarring.

It's city life and blue states. Rural America the heartland of America is where to raise your children. AZ Florida are both drug ridden

Not out of the south, but I got out of Louisiana. After finishing grad school I headed for Texas and never looked back

It’s not just in the south. Most urban areas are dangerous. At least in the south, you can carry without concern.

Idaho would be my number 1 choice. However, no shot my wife is leaving her family unless things get a good bit worse around us. We are far enough out… for now

It’s pretty peaceful here in LA (Lower Alabama) great getaways but it’s as hot as the Devils arse. It’s not a “south” thing per say…it’s a NO & Baton Rouge thing. It needs cleaning up, that shite wouldn’t fly in other areas.

I imagine this is a common hurdle. When my MIL dies, I will be free to go almost anywhere. BIL lives in Idaho. Kids will be off in college, or graduated from college by then. And I just don’t like to be around people very often.
