yep, travel at your own pace. stop when you want. play the music you want. take a detour if you want.

6 hrs is a long drive? As long as time permits, I'm driving. Have you seen how people behave on planes now? Plus the TA lines, cramped seats,.... I'll take the comfort of my own vehicle if time permits.

6 hours I'm driving. Any longer than that it depends on the circumstances. If it's a quick 2-3 day work trip where I only have to worry about myself, I'm flying. If it's a family vacay, I'm more likely to drive to avoid the hassle of getting 4-5 people through the airport.

Drive if at all possible. When I go hiking in CO every year. Driving

Fly for business drive for personal.
This right here. For work anything over 5 hours, I'm flying. Airport is 2 miles from house. I have precheck and can usually arrive 30 mins before takeoff if not checking a bag
Personal travel is a different scenario and is not nearly as frequent

Depends
6 hours to Dallas I’m flying because it’s an easy direct flight. Lafayette airport so I don’t need to get there more than 15 minutes before boarding and I don’t check bags.
30A and I’m driving because it would take longer to fly

6 hours is definitely a drive. You'd spend 8-10 hours driving to airport, checking in, taxiing, flying, disembarking, waiting on your bags, getting a rental, then driving to your hotel.

I think once the drive hits 9 hours I will typically choose to fly.

10 hours is about my cutoff, but I have to have good scenery, a lot of 85 mph interstate driving to make up time, and a spot about halfway where I can sit down and eat a good lunch. I’ll do 8 hrs if there’s some shitty driving involved.
6 hrs is a no brainer drive for me though.
We live about 2 hours from Memphis Airport, so by the time I get to Memojis, get checked in, and boarded, I’m at least halfway there for a 6 hr trip before the plane even gets in the air.

I like to rent a car and drive to my destination.
Then fly back
Then fly back

I hate being in the car for even an hour

4.5 hour drive is my limit. If it's more than that and I'm by myself.... I'm flying.

The in-laws are 650 miles away. It's a 10-11 hour drive typically. Most of it through pretty country.
It's under two hours in the air, but you have to leave at least two hours before to get to the airport and get checked in and once you get there, it's about two more hours to get your baggage and get out to their place, plus you would need to rent a car unless you just want to be stuck there.
So that's 6-7 hours of travel time and you are limited on what you can take and bring back. Since we often haul stuff up there and haul stuff back, and since I just like having my own vehicle handy, the few hours of travel time savings just aren't worth it to me.

6hrs drive or book a flight?
Direct flight or connecting flight?
For a 6-hour drive...if it's a direct flight, I'm flying. If there is a connection, I'm driving.
ETA...I live about 15 minutes from my local airport, and it is a TSA training facility, so security typically takes 15 minutes or less to navigate.

Drive. I will drive 24 hours in 2 days rather than fly domestic. I live 2+ hrs from an airport anyway.
I get to take my bulldog and I get to stay strapped. Win-win.

I love a good roadtrip and generally hate the process of flying these days. If I have the time I'd much rather drive somewhere than fly, I've never had a set X amount of hours and I'll fly either, I've done a few 18+ hour drives and don't mind it. The journey is part of the experience and I love seeing parts of the country that you won't see in a plane. Stopping where ever we want, doing whatever we want, etc.
