My rationale is that I think the average American is in more debt than they've ever been, even as a percentage of income. The ability to buy new vehicles at prices that are way above inflation adjusted costs means that dealers will either have to let cars sit on the lot which makes no money, or take a haircut on 2025s and shuffle purchases for 2026 toward more profitable models.

Depending on what GMC does with "Wifey's"(sorry, no pics) 2023 Yukon(6.2L V8 Recall), I might be getting something else...

I will be buying one between now and September, when my daughter gets her license. Passing the wife's (no pics) pilot down to the daughter and the wife wants a telluride. Too bad she wants a certain color exterior and interior at a certain trim level, of which I have found 4 in the entire country... All 4 of these are currently listed under msrp though, so that bodes well. Not financing, so I will make a deal between now and September, fly in to get it, and we will spend a few days enjoying a road-trip/vacation on the way back home.

I loaded it up pretty heavy. They looked around at other dealer's inventory but said nobody had anything with those options.

We are "softly" in the market for 2, one for the wife and one for the daughter. Doesnt seem like prices have come down in 20 years LOL...

Well, since the last time I got a car (2015), prices have shot up by about 50%. So, no. I'm not insane. Used is the new new.

I looked at 23 & '24 year models used when I couldn't find what I wanted in anyone's new car inventory. The prices on low mileage used trucks is insane.

I’m waiting on the new Scout extended range truck to come out, or possibly the new American Slate truck.

They are so damn expensive. Would eat me alive to get something that costly that would only last 6-10 years usually. Been going the repair route lately.

No it unless I have to.

If I needed a new truck, I would probably get a carefully optioned Silverado with the turbo engine. Don’t need to pull more than 7000 lbs. I like the ride of a full sizer, the 100k warranty on the turbo motor, and the interior and bed space of a big truck. Don’t want a diesel or need a V8. But that truck is probably still upper 40s to mid 50s depending on the incentives.

It’s been this way for at least 10 years with trucks.

I hear August-October are the best times to buy new cars.

This is a laughably stupid strategy.

I'm gonna write a missve on buying new cars and trucks...

Two categories:

" I just want the best deal..."

Or,

" I want exactly what I want...:"

If there's demand for it, I'll write it.

Quals:

I've bought probably 20+ new cars, trucks, RVs over the past 15 years and have helped numerous friends and relatives with same.
