My Great Grandpa banged Ma Barker back in the 1930s. She had a Tommy Gun and he had a Rocket in his Pocket.

My grandfather ferried cars back and forth between NOLA and LA in the 30s. I never got to ask him about it but my dad was pretty vague about what his dad was doing and why.
No telling what was in the trunk of those cars.

CSB but apparently my parents needed to call in some favors with "made men" they had done business with in order to get my adoption papers finalized, because my biological mom was trying to renege in order to get more money for me. This was in Youngstown, OH.

Friend of mine's father once told me that he was pretty sure that my uncle once dated Carlos Marcello's niece. Caught up with my uncle years later and asked him if that was true and he told me hell no, with his track record with women, he wouldn't still be alive today if he would've done something insane like that. This from a man kicked out of Ole Miss before even attending class because he was running card games in Oxford.

My next door neighbor many years ago was pretty high up in the Yakuza. He used to come over to my house and party with us "gaijins" all the time.
One night he got sick during one of our parties, we called an ambulance for him, and the next day he died.
True Story.

The 250k+ of folks who were in Tulane Stadium (some well before they were born) to see Tom Dempsey's 63 yard field goal are listening.

Good friends with the wife, daughter and grand kids of one of Marcellos capos. The pictures they have are some right out of Goodfellas shite.

It would be terrifying as a child to grow up around all of that stuff.

For years I had this notion in my mind that that shitty restaurant on Williams blvd in Kenner. Right next to the harbor. That never had a single car in it for multiple decades. Was some kind of front.

We probably grew up in the same neighborhood then.
My best friend growing up, his grandfather was in the mafia and was featured in a book about it. Would have been cool to meet him but he was dead before I ever met my friend.

One night drinking while on vacation my parents decided to have a casual conversation about how my grandfather & my dad were involved with the mafia. Apparently my grandfather used to guard some very valuable "assets" for the Marcellos & play cards with them regularly.

Sure. A lot of the seedier clubs and um establishments in Europe are run by central European, Balkan, and Slavic types. They're mobbed up.

Yes, I know one pretty well but he won't talk about it much...from what I understand he is a couple years removed from their activities
I know more than I probably am supposed to but from what I understand his bosses bailed out of the US back to their home country and while he still holds allegiances to them, he is for the most part out

Pretty sure Korea is the same way. I saw some shady rough looking dudes, in very nice cars, making stops at the clubs.
The bars in the red light of Frankfurt have a very mobbed up, menacing feel, but I might be reading into it in both cases.
