I agree with twitter and you are a pussy.
So you're agreeing with Twitter and NOT sending your kids to school?
Reading comprehension is seriously lacking.
I want kids to go back to school. It's imperative at this point.

while on the surface this sounds like the most practical option, but forcing teachers to juggle in class students and virtual students would be a nightmare logistically
You just find out how many kids are attending school in class vs. virtual. Assign teachers accordingly. If 1/3 want to stay home, then 1/3 of teachers teach virtually.

We have 30 non whites in our entire elementary school system and two armed sheriffs officers on premises at all times.
Can’t wait to ship their butts back

My kids are the future of this country and they are strong. They will be fine.

All I've read is that kids don't transmit it to adults. Seems within reason they wouldn't transmit it to each other, if they even have it.
Plus the fact that they have a better chance of dying from the regular flu than the WuFlu makes me think it would be fine.
All that said, I'd never forgive myself if my son died from it. I want to be rational, but it's hard not to let the emotional side creep in.
He's just now old enough to go to school, this would be his first year. I want him to go and I want schools to open. And I think they should. And I know there's a better chance of something other than covid happening to him.
But that's being a first time parent I'm sure.

I am glad all of you are sending your kids to school. If you all make it through for a month, I will send mine. And thank you for taking one for the team.

I 100% understand the irrational thoughts, but the chances are so low. If we let our minds go there, we’d never put our kids in a car or a pool or any other more likely threat.

With all that we know now, why on earth is anyone under 70 worried about getting this virus?

People are so damn soft. How about working for a living? Not having the luxury of working from home. Not having the option for home schooling. Some parents actually rely on schools to not only educate their kids but also feed them. That’s the way the system works. We can’t hide in our shells like pansies forever. Move on.

Risk that schools become hubs for this seems the real issue. You have a bunch of low symptom human germ bombs that are hard to teach good behavior.
It’ll be interesting.
Your comment describes the people of the OT.
Children will be easier to reach when it comes to safety practices. Younger kids still believe in Science and haven’t been corrupted by conspiracy theorists, politicians, and social media. It’s bazaar that people can’t grasp the efficacy of masks yet. It’s a 2nd grade science experiment with mounds of data to back it.

If you are over 70, consider choosing to not return to school in the fall.
