There was a time.

That time was a long time ago.

Almost everyone I know with the mobility to leave the state in general say the only reason why they don’t is because of family.

I stayed for a year after graduation. It made me realize I loved LSU, not Baton Rouge.

I moved away from Baton Rouge after college and I missed it some at that time. Moved all around the country in my career and after 28 years, I still miss Louisiana. When I retire in about five years, I plan to move back!

This idea that BR was so much better in the 80’s is hilarious considering the people of the time thought BR was way worse than it was in the 50’s. The people of the 50’s didn’t have much to compare it to though because it was pretty small prior to WW2.

If my wife didn’t have a sister fighting cancer and her father in poor health as well, we’d be in TX already. My BP went up as soon as I got the 10/110 exchange coming from the airport the other day. Sure, I hear gunshots out here too, but they are targeting different animals.

Left Beaumont Texas in 2002 and moved to Phoenix chasing pussy. Met my wife in Phoenix and been chasing pussy(her career) from Charlotte to Baton Rouge and now to Houston area ever since

Pussy and money will make you drive a long way

The only thing I miss in BR is my family. And I don't even really miss them, I just feel like I have to say that.

I bought Terry Bradshaw a Coors light there 20 years ago. Ended up pulling some good talent out of there. If you were around that area in the early 2000’s that place was epic. I think Jenna Jameson had a bar called the Pussy Cat lounge or something like that in old Scottsdale that was good also.

Grew up in Baton Rouge from 1979-2000. Folks stayed behind and visited them ever so often from 2005-2015 when my old man finally retired and got out of there. I’ve maybe been to BR five or six times since then for work. I don’t miss it at all. I hate visiting there. To me, it’s a shell of the city I grew up in.

No. I miss the feel of football Saturdays. I missed all the different restaurants and bars for a while, but most of those places have changed, negatively. And now that my son graduated and left I have no reason to go back

I wouldn’t mind living in Denham, but too much of a flood risk.

I go back to BR once every couple of years. The last time I was there was March of 2022.

I don’t miss it. I don’t particularly enjoy the memories of my young adult life and just prefer to stay away.

That restaurant BRQ is pretty damn good though and I do always go to Mike Anderson’s. Usually run the LSU lakes too.

No. BR no longer resembles anything I remember or loved about it growing up there.

I miss the food, and culture of lsu, family and friends. But I do not miss the city at all.

I moved to Texas and didn't miss BR for about 6 months. Then I realized I was living in a corporate concrete jungle with no true local culture and limited access to mom and pop restuarants and stores, no easy access to coastal fishing / hunting / boating, LSU sporting events, and real people.

12 lane interstates with 6 lane service roads are nice but even those get backed up. Chain restaurants galore but very few mom and pops with unique food and staff who want to know their customers. Most people work for corporations and are forced into PC mindsets out of fear of losing their jobs and desire to move up the corporate ladder. This limited the number of people I could trust and become true "friends" with.

All things considered, I still prefer BR south of I-10 over Texas.

Maybe if you're moving to Baghdad.

I moved for four years and missed it. One thing I’ve learned about moving around is that you have to learn to enjoy what the are you’re in offers. In BR, you have to fish, hunt, be with family, and go to LSU games. If those aren’t your things then you’ll never be content here.

BR was a great city to grow up in in the 80s. It’s definitely not the same, but south of i10 it’s good place still. Hopefully St George gets through the courts and can salvage the parish.
