Never been to a Popeyes. Given how people raise hell about it, I Googled locations here in Bham. Now I know why I’ve never been to one. They are all in terrible locations. If I can ever find one outside of the ghetto, I’ll try it.
We have two Nashville style places here now: Hattie B’s and Eugene’s. We also have a couple of locally owned places that are good: Ms Dot’s and Wings R King.

Popeyes was good when it was a New Orleans/Louisiana thing. When the original owner and founder Al Copeland sold off, it went to shite and became "McDonald's-ized".
I can remember being a young kid going to my grandmother's house in New Orleans and we would get Popeye's from time to time (when it was a New Orleans thing only). It was much different back then.

New Roads was so bad, they've shut down the second attempt at having one. Friend of mine said he just pulled up to the window and gave them a $20. They asked what he wanted, he said it didn't matter they were gonna give them what they wanted to any way.

Popeyes can frick up an order or completely leave out items.
When KFC changed their recipe, or oil used, or whatever a few years back it went to crap. Until then I would have ranked KFC behind only southern classic.

I didnt grow up with a popeyes around, but kfc yes. So I dont even think about getting popeyes when I want kfc.

Depends, if it's the one in Metairie, where each 3 piece comes out with a gallon of grease soaked into it....then KFC. That's the only one I know of that I would pass on.

I can get down on their brown gravy and those bowls they do are a pretty solid lunch. Plus the closest Popeyes is ran by a bunch of nosepickers who constantly screw up my food. Gotta go about 5 miles further if I want to get to the good Popeyes.

The waffles are really good, I think they only brought them back for a limited time though. Another thing I like from there is the Nashville hot sauce.
