Her name was Courtnay Smoak. She was dating Jimmy Goodrum. She had dated Mike Freezy (sp) a Greek guy.
Charles Mullin drove his Pontiac J2000 over the mounds in a drunken stupor and Jimmy got up to see what the noise was. He was lucky. Courte was not.
afterwards they designed permanent barriers but it took her dying for it to come to that. A young girl had been crippled by a Jeep years before.

Courtney was a Zeta pledge at the time. They used to have a memorial plaque in the house.

Has been awhile, but think she was with Jimmy Goodrum, offensive lineman from Central Lafourche. He would have been an All-American if not from injuries (football related), not because of this incident

Even the current barriers aren't 100%... I remember seeing s Jeep parked on top of the mounds in 97 or 98.
I also remember seeing a Tacoma go over them in 2005 maybe. Broad daylight.
Sad about that girl...
I still remember the kid Devin who was killed by a sober driver while j walking in...04 I think. The only frat guy who I was ever able to actually tolerate...hell he was damned funny to be honest.

In early 90s(I think)....he got sme weird brain infection and was in a coma for awhile-I believe he died...
Someone told me he may have gotten the infection from shoving a q tip too far

It was the night before we left to play Mississippis State. Everyone was pretty bummed becasue Jimmy was well liked and he was so messed up he couldn't make the trip. I can't say it had anything to do with our loss, but it was on everyone's mind.
