I had a friend who was a teller. And an old man died that had quite an extensive money collection. His elderly wife just brought in and deposited it. It was all kinds of old coins and money, so she called me and a friend to come get what we wanted. I ended up with a $500 made in 1934 and a $100 with a red serial number and seal stamped on it instead of green. My buddy(who at the time had more money than me to trade for the old money) got a $1000, a $500, a $100 with a gold stamp, and all kinds of other cool stuff.

Still at a bank now. When I was just a banker at a desk I had a hot chick come to my office and she had a tight jean miniskirt on. I told her to have a seat and asked what brought her in. When she sat down her entire skirt flipped up (unknowingly to her) revealing everything. I remained professional and explained to her that she had a wardrobe mishap. She was super embarrassed and even more embarrassed that she was there asking for NSF fees to be reversed. She was super red and even said "Now you probably think I did that on purpose to get my fees reversed." Well I reversed the fees anyway. Not the best of stories but I've been in the business for 8yrs. I prob have a story about damn near anything you want to hear

i was working drive thru as a teller. i was by myself and it was like 5 minutes before we closed at 5:30. This old lady comes flying in to the commercial lane. She is haggard lookin and in a night gown driving like an 88 buick.
"Can I help you?"
"Yes! Im overdrawed in my checkins. i need to do a swap over from my savings"
"Yes maam. i can do that for you."
I fill out the slips. She wanted me to do 200.00 from savings to checking. She was overdrawn like 80 cents. I make the transfer and it shows me her savings balance. Chick had like 3 mil in there. Never judge a book by its cover.

Our board chairman when I worked there lived out at the lake and only came into town for board meetings. Never married, drove an old beat up station wagon. All he cared about was fishing and hunting. One day my friend's dad saw him on the side of the road picking up cans. He pulled over and said, "Uncle James, (everybody called him Uncle James) why are you picking up cans?" Uncle James replied, "that's why I'm rich and you're poor."
Uncle James was also taking a crap at the bank one time and got blown off the shitter by a buildup of gas in the lines.

Up until at least mid-2000's, some banks still had to have a physical paper trail. I was training for pilots license in mid 2000s and my instructor and good friend was hired by a large bank with headquarters in Charlotte. Every night a very large check and balancing cash had to be transfered from local HQ to national HQ in Charlotte. He flew three people on the route every night and it always included a movie like scene of a locked briefcase handcuffed to a bank representative who also had a parachute.
I often trained with him before or after his flights and saw the bank rep several times including briefcase handcuffed to a guy.

Yeah, we could only accept rolled coin. Think about if someone just came in with a crap load of coins and we had to sit there and roll it all.
Even the tiny bank in my podunk town had a change counter. As a kid they would always take my jug o'change and dump it in with a smile.

Yep, 9/11 was a big spur to electronic checking. A lot of banks had already transitioned before then, but having aviation shut down for the better part of a week did it for the rest of them.

I worked at a bank about half a mile off of LSU's campus in 2000. The amount of arse that came in was insane. The amount of arse I received was disappointing.

My sister worked for a bank and some guy threatened to shoot her. Showed up later at the bank with a gun. Pretty scary.

I worked at the Hibernia close to Tulane back around 2000. Most excitement was a couple of guys tried to run in with masks and at least one had a gun. One of the bankers saw them and screamed before they got all the way in and they turned around and ran off.
I helped Harry connick sr several times and he was super nice. Biggest bitch was an old oschner who played the 'do you know how much money we have in this bank.' I still made her wait in the Friday afternoon paycheck cash line.
One of our regulars was a painter who ended up offing his wife. Obviously I didn't really know him but he was always cool when he came in.
Tulanes football coach came in too and he was very very nice.

I was in line a couple months ago at the Capital One in Sulphur with about 10 other people. An old obese guy in a white T and overalls was telling me how he had cut slits in the side of his overalls in order to get them off fast enough when he "went to the shitter." Par for the course.

They didn't have a personal banker?

My father in law switched banks over a teller not letting my wife (when she was about seven) cash in her piggy bank. Said it had $15.00 or so of loose change and the teller wouldn't accept it.
I like your FIL and would've done the same.
I won't go back to Vegas b/c a casino guard was smart-mouthed to my daughter. Plus, Vegas sucks.

I worked at one while I was in school.
The only two things that really stood out was
1. the time this guy came in on drugs and shite himself in the Branch President's office. He had naked women airbrushed on his big truck.
2. the by far most WTF moment though was a guy who came in with $200,000 of cash and checks (IIRC) and deposited it into his savings account.....couple weeks later he comes into the bank with his receipt and saying that deposit wasn't showing up in his account. I went back through all the deposits that date and I knew the exact amount and found that the $200,000 had been credited to someone else's account. Luckily for him and the bank, the person didn't realize they had an extra $200,000 in their account and probably never did.
