I’m a friend of Bill. It’s changed my life.

I like Budweiser, but that’s just me

I have seen several people say that they attended these meetings here through the years.

Checking to see how many other construction estimators trying to price post pandemic roll in also.

I'm not knockin' it but they sure do like to hear about your love life. I think they get tired of hearing about some things and like to hear about the drama with SOs.

Recovering drunk here.
It never was right for me. I know it’s absolutely saved lives and it works for a lot of people. I’m just not one of them. It had a cultish feel that I never could get comfortable with.
Ultimately I just made up my mind I was done but did take one of their popular slogans to heart - one day at a time.

Are these meetings a good place to pick up women?

I'm 2 years and 5 months sober. I got lucky and found a good one I guess and I attend twice a week. I'm 30 years old and the regulars are all mid 60's too early 70's aged men. They have been really good to me and really do give a shite.

I’ve been sober since 12/27/87 living one day at a time. I no longer attend meetings. I share my story with others often times complete strangers who are wanting to talk about their problems. I offer them support and encourage them to just stay sober today. A half-dozen of my HS using friends are no longer here due to drug overdose and making poor decisions under the influence. Sucks being a pall bearer for friends who died way to young.

How long have you been going for it to change your life? We used to have several threads a year with someone wanting or needing to get sober. Hopefully you can provide them some guidance on how you have stayed sober for a while.

Only difference between drunks and alcoholics...... we don't have meetings.

I attended and it just never clicked for me. Never understood being able to walk away from something like that only having to report back once or twice a week to tell people about it.
I do u derstand it is beneficial for others.
I'm also not one of these folks who put timelines on their sobriety. I basically just put my foot down, stopped being an idiot, and left it all behind.
For me, I had worn that experience down to a nub, lost alot of things in life and just got to a point that I did not trust it anymore.
