Catholic here. Have gone to one a few times with some friends. Seemed like a big bible study group.
Had people with ipads and yeti's of coffee just taking notes on whatever bible reading they were discussing that day.
Beliefs did not seem all that far apart from catholicism

Yea, i think about this from time to time. The government forcing us to help the "needy" really takes the point away. If there were no government handouts, communities and congregations would step up and help those in need. And it would force the receivers to act right, be humble, and actually get their lives together.

What gets me are the Catholics that have never stepped foot in a Protestant Church that believe they all speak in tongues and handle snakes.
I have some older family members that believe this is true.

I've been to one. Seems like they just focus on telling people what they want to hear and not what they need to hear,.

Well put. That is better said than I did. But it's very true. People , in general, do want to help others, but when government intervenes it takes away the wholesomeness of humankind.

I grew up in small town Baptist churches. It's all your friends and neighbors in there. They do a little singing, preaching, and have an invitation at the end.
In my experience, the Protestants actually want to be in church to worship and then visit with friends, and the Catholics go for the rituals and can't wait to race out of the parking lot.
