Yea too old for that shot now, rather a nice bed and just go hit the fish in the spring.
Now as a preteen and teen, pretty common if I wanted to go hunting in the morning. I ain’t mad at them any more though

I typically love being alone in the dark woods (incredibly peaceful), but once I walked 3 miles into a WMA by myself at about 6:30 PM (dark) to get “our” blind the night before the duck season opener. No one is allowed on the WMA before midnight, but I knew some dickheads that planned to try to beat us to that blind even though we built it and camo’d it. So, my hunting buddy dropped me off and I walked in, unarmed. I figured if I got caught, I’d be in less trouble if I didn’t have any guns on me. I’ll never do that unarmed again!! The whole night until my buddy got there in the boat around 1 AM, it was nonstop coyotes chasing rabbits through the woods right behind the damn blind I was in. On a couple of occasions, I could hear them breathing when they stopped for a rest, and one group drank water about 20 yards from me. To this day, coyote howls give me goosebumps.

I grew up in the country so for a big chunk of my life that was a regular Friday and/or Saturday night or more during the summer. Not as much now but hope to get back to that at some point.

Just got out in the woods today for no reason. Nothing too weird or scary happened yet. I did come across this strange cross thing though. Idk what that’s about

Is your name Rust, or is it Marty?

I used to, but now it's tougher since I gotta haul my CPAP, a generator and 2 30 packs and a pocket full of jack links. I guess you can call that camping.

Float camping is fun.
I can get my back pack under 40 pounds with two days supplies. The saver is not packing water. I bring filters and collect water.
I'll still bring like 2-3 bottles but not multiple gallons like I used to.

I haven't. I enjoy the social aspects of camping, like watching my husband put up the tent and telling him he's doing it wrong, telling him he's building the fire wrong, telling him it's too early to drink beer, etc. (jk, I know how to put up a tent, he knows perfectly well how to build a fire, and I'm usually the one to start drinking).
But my brother has. He goes alone all the time. He's 6'6", built like a beefy basketball player, and an excellent marksman that is always carrying. If he sees other people, he moves away from them. Had a couple of close calls with wild hogs, but nothing bad happened. He swears he camped too close to an old Indian burial ground one tie and saw some really freaky shite.

Awww. I hope he got home. Alot of hunting dogs are left behind in the woods when owners are done with them. Since he had a collar, maybe not.

Until humans finally overcome the compulsion to kill other humans they stumble upon in the woods, I shan't set up camp alone.
That said...
That was a cool story with photo.

I do it every year. Weeklong backpack by myself in the mountains. It’s my refresh. But I’m an introvert who loves nature.
Never worried in the least. Much, Much safer on a Colorado trail than a New Orleans street.

Had a bear trash campsite and sniff my feet one time at 5:00 am.
