I’ve been working on a masterpiece for a decade. I’m a few pages into it already.

That’s interesting. I’m currently writing a book and would like to know the process you underwent to get your novels published

I love murder mysteries and have written two drafts of one myself. It’s more of a thing to do while I’m bored and I’m not overly serious about it but it’s about 125 pages on Word so far. My goal is to keep adding to it, editing it, and brainstorming until it’s about 400 pages. As for publishing, no clue, and if I had to guess I’ll probably never even finish it. I’d tell you the plot but I’m not giving you any free ideas

Yes...been a work in progress for 20 years and haven't worked on it in 5 or so :(. Need to get the fire re-ignited. Full time work to pay bills and raise kids...stomps out many a dream unfortunately.

I’ve thought about it. In fact, I’ve even tried. I’m bad at it! It is a lot harder than it seems.

Either write a book or don't; just promise you won't become another of those annoying people who walk around constantly trying to talk up the book they're "going to write one day."

I started writing a book that I’ll never finish most likely

Just write it. See if you can maintain an interest in finishing it.

Set aside at least an hour per day to write. Each day, re-read what you wrote the previous day to tap into “the flow”

I started several books, the first had a best selling title but the people who needed to read it would not and the folks who already lived it did not need it. I would have just been making money of the sheep. The second was more autobiographical but some other guy published first with the working title for mine. Last book I started was a few years ago for life lessons but kids today would not care.

I self-published all my novels and short stories through Amazon (it's free unless you buy some of their services).

I’m trying to convince my wife. A family situation we’ve gone through is book ready material.

Already have nine books in my Beers Detective Agency series. Number 10 in progress.

Writing is the easy part. Editing and refining your story into something others will want to read is where the work is.

Yes, it crossed my mind in my younger days, but I'm too scatterbrained to even do long form articles.

is this sort of like a vanity publishing thing or are you trying to sell them?

Wrote a 4 book series about a couple who work as hired killers for a cajun mobster in the early 90s. Quite a lot of fun to do. Rich lawyer buddy published my first one and one of his a few years ago.

I have been told I should many times. My husband and parents have encouraged it. A couple of my professors in college suggested it. I have developed a pretty good premise. Never have had the time, so I guess it has never been a priority.
