re: Anyone Here Admit To Road Rage? Have Any Stories?

Was in Pascagoula one night and had just left Walmart picking up a few things. Guy gets behind me riding my tail and his headlights were annoying the hell out of me, so I did the logical thing of brake checking him hard to teach him a lesson. I just thought the headlights were annoying but immediately mixed with blue leds was 10x worse. FYI, Cops HATE being brake checked. Two tickets later, I was on my way.

Other than a lot of cursing, I only have two true incidents. One time I was cut off on the interstate and laid on the horn for a solid 90 seconds before the car sped up and then pulled on the side of the road. As I passed I saw it was a young looking girl and felt guilty the rest of the day.

The other time, my mom's SO was driving us to breakfast in BR. He turned left into what I believe was the waffle house on College. There were no cars when he started, but as he turned, this POS car doing about 80 came up and slammed on his breaks to avoid us. He swerved into the parking lot and approached us. I had just got done saying something passive aggressive insulting when he got a little too close and my mom's SO jabbed him once, knocked him out cold, then caught him one the way down, dragged him back to the driver's seat in his car, turned around and said "who's hungry?" It was the greatest thing I ever saw.

It's dangerous. A safer way to piss off tailgaters is just slow down until they pass you. Or use your wiper fluid.

I've cussed inside the car and rarely thrown a middle finger. But shite like this is why I wouldn't come unglued in a full on road rage. You don't know who you're fricking with in the other car. Run the risk of pissing off a lunatic.

I did the same thing one night around midnight, coming back home to Baton Rouge from Hammond after work. I can't even remember what the trucker did to piss me off, but he stayed right on my arse in the slow lane afterwards. Mile after mile we drove with him on my rear bumper.

Then he starts passing me and, right as the center of his trailer is even with my front door, he starts to come back into the slow lane. I hit the brakes and started to go onto the shoulder but couldn't, because there was an abandoned car parked there. I just stood on the brakes and somehow managed to barely avoid getting taken out by the trailer or the abandoned car.

Felt like I was living this scene:

I like the idea of giving someone a thumbs down. The “I’m not mad I’m just disappointed vibe” seems like it would be more effective.

When I’m frustrated on the road and my kids are in the car, I typically resort to enthusiastic sarcasm to disguise my anger. It’s a win-win because my kids think I’m suddenly overjoyed with the situation at hand lol

I had a guy once lose his damn mind in a road rage fit. He was weaving in and out of traffic and ended up stuck beside me in the other lane. He tried to cut me off, but I didn’t budge. I smiled and waved and him. He began screaming and hitting his dashboard. Then, while we’re on the interstate doing almost 80, he rips his tee shirt off Hulk Hogan style and starts slinging it around the car and slapping his chest repeatedly. Still the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on the road.

I've gotten out of my truck to fight someone (who was actually the one being an arse on the road, not me) one time, but I'm a big guy so they noped out of there They were getting inches away from my tailgate on a a small-ish road. So I slowed way down when traffic was coming the other way so they couldn't pass, then sped way up when it was clear so they couldn't get around me They got out of their truck when we both hit a stop sign at the end of the road, thats when I got out of mine. Then they noped around me, flipped me off, and that was that.

Nowadays I'm not getting out of the truck though, people will just shoot you. Especially if they don't think they could win a fight against you anyway.

Once I was being the idiot driver myself... a truckdriver got really mad at me because I was swerving while getting bad, toothy road head once on the interstate. Dude was honking like crazy and yelled something at us. My bad. I was shifting between states of zen and states of pain every few seconds.

Way back in 1995 I was working up in the NC Mtns for the summer and going to school at App State... After work, I was driving back from Blowing Rock to Boone on 321... some guy got beside me and was driving erratic and flipping me off. I had no idea what I did, but he followed me and it was 5pm and traffic... so he gets out of his car and walks up to my driver's side door to confront me.

I get out and I had an empty glass Coke bottle and grabbed it w/ my left hand and right when got to me I back handed him w/ the bottle to his face and jumped back in the car and drove over the curb to get away.

Had no idea why he was upset.

3 days later, I see him at the Hardees in Blowing Rock. He's with 6+ dudes from work. They're painters. Painters are crazy... this was before latinos came. Crazy white people painters.

He starts talking smack loud in the Hardees... my 3 coworkers tell me to hurry up and let's GTFO there... But he followed me out to our work truck (and his crew)... this dude grabs a sledghammer off our work truck and tells me he's gonna bash my face in.

Before he could swing that big ole thing, I tackled him to the ground... he dropped the SH and started scratching my face like a b!tch. Then I pinned his shoulders/arms down w/ my knees and was ready to go to town on his face... but I saw his buddies getting ready to jump; so I stopped and screamed to this old lady to call 911.

I let him go and he and his buddies were talking more smack.

Crazy thing- I saw the same dude 2 years later by himself and he ignored me.
