I just bought a Roomba 880. I'm nervous that it won't be worth the hefty price ($650). I've never used one before, but we have dark wood floors, and two pets that she's hair a lot.

Anything I should know about the Roomba? Tips, what to expect, etc?

We don't have a roomba, bought an off brand for cheaper. It works really well on pet hair on the tile floors, but doesn't work on carpet.

My only complaint is its kind of loud, but so is a vacuum cleaner so that makes it a non-issue.

brand?

Pure Clean

I don't expect it to last as long as a roomba, but if it breaks it was cheap. It doesn't find its way back to the charger either, when it dies you have to go plus it in.

Ours got used to it pretty quick.

We have the 750 and have a dog. It absolutely helps and is worth it in my opinion. It doesn't replace your real vacuum but it does cut down on how much you have to do. Also we named our roomba Spencer.

My only concern with mine is I've only had it for a year and don't think I'll get but maybe another year out of it. Spencer has seemed to start speaking in Chinese for no reason now and he randomly starts vacuuming without any scheduled programming. Who knows?

Friend of mine has a Lab that stays inside while they are at work. It was sick and had diarrhea and the Roomba passed right thru it. You can only imagine the mess!

This, it helps a ton but will not replace the real vacuum .

Luckily, we keep our dog in a seperate room while at work. She doesn't make messes hardly ever, but even if she did while we were gone- it would be in her spare room (which we won't have the roomba go to)

They work awesome, dust bin has to be cleaned very often. Gets stuck under some chairs on occasion, but a must have if you own pets.

We have the Neato XV Signature Pro, cleans a little different than the roomba. It does more of a calculated clean, scanning the room, going around the perimeter, then the rest in a back and forth motion.

It probably doesn't matter but for a tech person like myself it seemed cooler and seemed to be more efficient.

We keep it on our main level and it cleans 2,400 sq ft of hardwood twice a week. We only use the real vacuum about once a month to get in the few places it can't go.

Best purchase I've ever made.

We got the Neato built for pet hair. It is a godsend. It works great on tile, wood, and carpet/rug.

We named ours Ray since it's blind and just bumps into shite all day.

Eta: got the refurb one from woot for $170 iirc. Totally worth the price.

We have a Roomba...he is one of the earlier models and we named him DJ Roomba. Anyway, he does a good enough job as we have dark wood floors and two dogs, too. But, he often times doesn't have a rhyme or reason for the path he takes. He zigs and zags and circles random areas.

For the most part, I like DJ...he does the vacuuming while we are at work.
