I am planning a trip to Los Angeles and this has always been on my bucket list.
I heard it's an all day event and you have to show up early.
I also heard it's not random and that each person in the line is interviewed/photographed, then selected by the producers.

No but I went to a filming of Wheel of Fortune in NOLA years ago and stood up during a break in filming and yelled to Vanna White "I love you, Vanna". She blew me four kisses afterwards.
Highlight of my life until my first blowjob.

start requesting tickets for shows and tapings you want to attend now. There are limited days of tapings. The games look like junk up close but you can't tell on TV.
LINK looks like August is next tapings
Bring your TigerDroppings coozie for Lets Make a Deal

Watch the perfect bid on Netflix. It's a documentary about cheating the price is right.

Watch The Perfect Bid: The Contest Who Knew Too Much on Netflix. It gives you details on exactly what they do, and how to be noticed. Watched it for kicks. Really interesting Rainman type dude

This was back in the late 1990's.

A friend of mine I workerD with was on the Price is Right in the early 1980's. When his name was called, his wife went apeshit and when he made it to bidders' row, Bob Barker said something along the lines of "Your wife seems excited that your name was called." My friend said "I've never seen that woman before in my life, Bob." He ended up making it to the end and won the showcase.
I'd pay good money to find that episode.

It’s definitely not an “all day event”
A friend of mine worked on the show from like 05-12. They tape like three episodes a day two or three days a week, at like 9 am, 11 am, and 1 pm and it’s taped in real time. So like stuff gets taped over the course of the hour that it takes you to sit and watch it.

We flew into Ontario and the next morning woke with first sunlight. Down for Breakfast early and there were about twenty folks there dressed in their flourescent T shirts with cute sayings, crazy hats, and all but getting hyped to be excited at the show.
Strange people, but boy, were they excited at 6:30 am local time.

I went in 2006. Yes, it is an all day affair. They basically make it painful enough to weed out the people who don't really want to be there.
Show up super early; I believe we got there at 5am.
They will assign you a number, and tell you to come back in an hour. They do this again. Then again.
Around 1pm or so, we had to get in a line for an hour. As the line moved, producers would interview each person for a couple of seconds, then move on.
Then you wait for another hour or so to get into the studio.
The taping of the show itself moves pretty quickly. Unfortunately I wasn't picked to be a contestant. All I wanted to do was spin the big wheel. I tried to bribe a studio worker to bring me back stage to spin the wheel, but no dice.

I went but wasn’t called on down. What you said was accurate. The filming of the show is quick it’s the check in and waiting in line that takes forever. It was probably waiting for 3 hours or more
