do you consider being locked up 'alone'?

Seems pretty sad on Christmas. I get everyone wants a Saturday like that every once in a while, but not on Christmas

Some people don’t have a choice. I bet there are plenty of old people who have to spend it alone every year. They just make it best of it.

Not alone (unless I wanted to be) but spent many deployed and/or on military bases. Not bad at all, the chows make a huge production out of it.

Christmas 1986. This was the second Christmas after my momma (grandmother) died. My brother, who had turned 18, got a job, got married, and rented his own trailer, let me move in with him and his wife rather than live with relatives on our father’s side. But my bother’s wife hated me living there. On Christmas Eve night they went to her parents house for Christmas. I was left alone in their trailer. Their power had been turned off as well as their water. I spent Christmas Eve night in the dark huddled over a kerosene heater. I spent Christmas Day doing the same. I didn’t see another human from Christmas Eve afternoon until two days after Christmas. Didn’t get a damn thing that Christmas.

I wasn’t raised this way. Before our momma died we lived a good life in a nice home with everything we wanted. Needless to say, after she died life was not good until I was old enough to finish high school and join the army.

My wife once had to work for Christmas Day and we planned to go to her family's house a few hours away once she got off that night. My side of the family wasn't doing anything. So after a couple hours of sitting at home I went charge Bird Scooters and made like $600 on Christmas Day

I've spent many Christmas' alone. For the most part it's great, especially if you do a destination holiday.

Sometimes it gets a bit lonely but it's manageable.

I have a couple times.

I prepared ahead of time and food and entertainment for myself and enjoyed the shite out of the day of freedom by myself

People can say what they will, and I liked being alone for a while, but there comes a point you just feel really empty without anyone to care for and vice versa.

Exactly and instead of investing in meaningful human relationships people get pets. Then you realize your pet is boring and really only associates you with food. Most people confuse this food association with love. Projecting human emotions onto animals is a very sad life.

Never completely alone. But I've had to work on Christmas a few times over the years.

A few times when I couldn’t make it home due to work. It was fine. I made a mini version of Christmas dinner and binge watched a bunch of tv.
I was sick for Thanksgiving 2 different years and this is what I did. Was vv relaxing.

The year after my mom passed away. She died on Christmas Day the year before. My dad was at my grandparents. I went down to the French quarter, ironically I didn’t get shot, and had Christmas dinner by myself and then found a bar and watched the Saints game.

I did once while in the Air Force stationed in Germany. All my friends had off for New Year's and worked Christmas while I had Christmas off and worked New Year's. They ended up going to London.

Yep, deer hunted Christmas morning after I split up from my Ex-wife. Was very peaceful.

I’m divorced with no kids and my parents are deceased. Yes, I’ve spent several Christmases alone. I usually take a solo trip. The ones I’ve spent at home by myself have been fine. I drink all day, binge TV shows, and cook a big steak.

I did once in college. I worked 12/26 and there was supposed to be bad weather in the afternoon of the 25th, so I left first thing in the morning. Even though my family and I celebrated on the 24th, it was still depressing sitting for most of the day by myself on Christmas Day.

Not alone but back in paramedic days I use to have to work Christmas. Missed many of them with family at home. Busy departments to, forget family coming to visit you at the station when you’re gone the entire time

One year my family was in California and I sat at my parents house in Bunkie alone for 3 days.

Honestly, it was great.
