Good fake Famous Amos cookies. There is a Super Dollar General outside of Huntsville, AL that has gas pumps. In general they are out in the country where other stores are not around. Maybe a good stock to buy if publicly traded vs a place to shop.

I like how they are sometimes completely in the middle of nowhere but when you look closer they are sort of equally far away from a couple or 3 small towns so they are fairly close to all of them and closer than anything else for all of them.

In Atlanta they're overwhelmingly in rough or rural areas.
in BR, they proliferate the nail salon, hair extension, wheel rental and payday extension loan markets

You're both right.
They're everywhere, but they are mostly in low income or rural areas.
100%

During the recession, I did very well with their stock. It’s a well run company based in Nashville.

Before Amazon became a competitor to Walmart Dollar General was Walmart's biggest competitor.

How do you even make this retarded shite up?
Do you look out your window and see a Dollar General so you make a comment like 'that has to be their biggest competitor'

I go all the time when I just want to get in and out quick. There is one right near the house and I'll go in for milk, bread or a few other things when I don't want to make a big grocery order.

I am going to Lowe's for the $4 bag of Royal Oak charcoal (14lb). I noticed there is a Dollar store on the side street (Edenborn) in Metairie..Never knew it was there.

It's more like a rich man's Family Dollar.

In 2015, I sold property to the firm who builds, then leases the buildings to Dollar General. At that time, they had plans to build over three hundred stores in Louisiana over the next five years.

On what? They don't have Walmarts buying power so a blanket statement like that is very untrue.

They carry a fine selection of sardines .

I love DG for the essentials. I live in a small town of 950 people and nearest wal mart is a 20 minute drive.
If I need a loaf of bread, canned goods, pack of hamburger meat, ketchup or other condiments, toilet paper, etc it’s nice to go 2 min down the road to DG, never busy, in and out in 3 min than drive 20 min to wal mart and deal with wal mart people and 3 registers open

He said their ideal situation was to have at least one store within a 10 mile radius of another store. (Dont quote me on that distance but it was really close.) There are about 4 or 5 where I am within a 20 mile radius.
They pretty much took the place of all the rural general store/gas stations that disappeared over the years.

I can go to dollar general and get what I need and be back in the car in 2 minutes. (3 minute drive)
Same product at Walmart for the same price:
10 minutes if I can do self-checkout and about a 6 minute drive.
at people that hate on the Do-Gen

They are the location of choice for rural robbers. There is one close to us that has been robbed five times now.
Most, but not all of them wore masks.

Some in nicer areas are fine. Generally they're not cheaper than Wal-Mart. If something is cheaper it's due to it being a small version.
