I’ve worked at very large corporations (several thousand to tens of thousands of employees) and very small businesses (a few dozen to a few hundred employees)

And as much as everyone hates Microsoft I have to admit their all in one service is far superior and easier to manage.

Outlook/Teams/Office they all just sync and are easy.

Gmail/slack/zoom/Google Docs may have a function on their own but once you get to a certain size organization it’s time to upgrade and move everything to Microsoft.

Having to join external meetings via teams and set up internal meetings via zoom and then set up chats via slack huddles is such a pain the arse.

Subtle brag, huh?

We use Teams and Zoom equally, just depends on who sets up the meeting.

Last gig was at a startup that used Gmail as their email platform and google meet as their meetings tool. Never again!

We use Zoom Phone. It's pretty awesome IMO.

Why would you use slack/zoom with GWS?

You have Google Meet and all sorts of chat/communications native

*ETA: Zoom is also pretty integrated into GWS

We have Teams but most people use Slack and Zoom. Both of which i hate. I just schedule all my meetings on Teams. But i'm stuck using Slack, which is awful.

We are old school. I’ve learned there’s no better nap than one during a conference call.

My buddy told me his workplace used LibreOffice. That blew my mind

The best part of Teams is being able to communicate in memes.

I don't really pick the method, but in vendor calls I prefer Meet, but I haven't had a lot of experience with Teams

I don’t mind any of those services.

I just make sure my camera is pointed more upwards so during the meeting, i can rub one out and it not get awkward.

I already have plenty of eye contact so it makes it way hotter that way

I get what you’re saying. It sucks, no doubt. But in a big enterprise, there’s usually a long list of reasons everything isn’t perfectly standardized.

Sometimes it’s as simple as Finance saying, “Nope, too expensive,” and that’s the end of the conversation. Doesn’t matter if half the company has been using the tool for years.

Sometimes it’s acquisitions. You buy another company, and suddenly one group lives in Slack, another lives in Teams, and everyone pretends that’s a “transition plan.”

Then you’ve got legacy/internal apps that only play nice with certain tools, different business units with different needs, contracts that don’t expire at the same time, and a pile of exceptions that made sense one at a time but look ridiculous once you zoom out.

Every CIO would love one clean ecosystem. Reality is usually finance, contracts, integrations, and organizational duct tape.

I wouldn't want to use Slack at work.

But for organizing a kids soccer team, or a church group, or a sports league, it's fantastic.

I once worked with a client that had 175k employees and used the google suite for everything. gchat, gmail, google docs, etc... It was awful.

Gmail/slack/zoom/Google Docs

I’m an exec at a Fortune 500. I couldn’t imagine our staff or anyone with a snipet of security and/or pride using zoom or Gmail.

I know the younger generation is hungry, but getting a Gmail company email upon hiring would be the equivalent to being asked to share a room on a company trip.
