Anyone else not like fine dining?

Just not for me. It’s four entrees one is a filet mignon. The rest is fish. Sides are veggies. I’d much rather go somewhere with fried shrimp, fries, oysters. I’m talking about Bud and Allys.
ETA: family wanted to go there. I’m just along for the ride.

I like fine dining because it's quieter.
I'll pay extra to go out and be in a setting where people aren't hollering.

I like mid grade dining the best. Will have great food most of the time.

So how big an ole boy are you?
Posted on 9/25/25 at 11:05 am to braves21
Give me some ice cold beer and damn good fried shrimp. Small portions and “fancy” food are for queers. If the ole lady insists on eating out, I’d rather be able to wear my PFG (tucked in of course) in the dining room.

Anything over 4 people, I agree,

It really really depends
If the restaurant is legit and has some awesome arse UNIQUE food then maybe ill spend a bunch of money at a place like that
But as someone who can cook really good, im hyper critical if im spending big money to eat somewhere, hyper critical.

Love fine dining.
Give me a good steakhouse with awesome sides, good service, good atmosphere, and a good bourbon selection over some nothing but fried food place any day.

I'm not big on it either. Getting all fancied up and paying way too much for food isn't my cup of tea.
ROI is much better in the mid tier and lower.

Not for me either. Im just not fancy. Dont feel comfortable there. Always feel like im getting ripped off. Been to almost every legacy top steakhouse in Dallas and never had a steak that was THAT much better than a quality ribeye i could grill at home. And then its 100 bucks.
And then non-steakhouse fine dining is just pretentious and self serving to me.
Gimme a dive.
eta: the service is always exceptional though and thats a breath of fresh air though more of an indictment on the quality of service at regular places.

Anywhere i can't wear jeans and a polo is more trouble than it's worth, and the food likely won't be any better overall.

Women prefer "it's fine." Dining

Most actual fine dining is loud AF and is so damn dark they have a flashlight for you to order.
I’m not a fine dining person, but a good old school steakhouse hits every time

You've never been to a fine dining restaurant.

Me, if I am required to wear long pants then I am out. They don't have those highfalutin rules at my Chilis or local Mexican restaurant.

Fine dining is ridiculously overrated and overpriced. Give me a sports bar with wings and beer all day every day.

I could take it or leave it.
When it comes down to it, if given the choice, I’d rather a homestyle/soul food joint or hole in the wall greasy spoon over fine dining.
I’ve gotten to the point in life where, if possible, I’d much rather buy a “fine” cut of meat from a butcher and cook it myself at home with some sides vs paying to eat somewhere with a white table cloth. Guess I’m just growing up.
