Anyone else get a phone call today from the Social Security Administration?

They just informed me via an automated telephone dialer (18-441-730-7337)that my social security number was flagged and that an arrest warrant has been issued for my arrest. They also explain that I need to immediately press # to speak with a corrections officer so I can turn myself in.
I went along with the operators instructions and they started asking me to identify myself to prove to them that I was headed for jail on an outstanding yet unspecified warrant. They needed my social security number, address, name, drivers license number, asked me to create a password so I could into their system, and asked for my financial institutions so that they could direct deposit the bail money into the Social Security Administration's bank account in the event I don't show up for court. I gladly provided them with fake info to see how far these scamsters would take it.
I have to say they have done quite of bit of work on this telephone scam and sadly its good enough to con a lot of elderly people into falling for this.

Got a call from them the other day that my SSN was suspended. I just hung up.

I get those a lot. Every year around tax day, the IRS will come out and say they conduct their business via US mail and not over the phone. People still fall for it though.

I automatically hang up on anything with a remotely faint Indian/Hindi or Pakistani dialect.

I got about 10 calls like that last week. They were all from a Washington DC number. I'd block the number and 2 hrs later a new number would call...same scam.

I told him they would never take me alive.

Next time they call, you better give them all the info they ask for. You don't want to be arrested.

My grandmother gets them all the time. It shakes her up no how many times I tell her it's a scam.
Kind of sad. People are shitty.

If you fall for that you deserve everything that happens to you

This is what I just don't understand. I have my phone set so that unless someone is on my contact list it doesn't ring through if it is a legitimate call they will leave a message. I have never picked up a single spam/scam call on my cell phone in 29 years of having one.

I do business all over the US and globe so it is fairly common for me to get calls from unknown numbers for business.

I went along with this call last week and it was one of these Indian accent guys. He tried to say he was with the United States Social Security Administration but couldn't get it out. He tried like 3 times. I was laughing and just hung up.
If there's ever actually a warrant out for your arrest, they don't call you. They just come get you. That was the dead giveaway.

This. If I don't recognize the number, I don't pick up.

This is what happens when you don’t pay your redlight camera ticket.

Spoke with them a few days ago.
Glad I picked up, too. Was able to straighten everything out right then over the phone with a quick $1276.65 credit card payment. Otherwise I would've been facing even more late fees/penalties.
