Last time I did that was 1994...

The Bose system in my Silverado sounds fricking awesome...

It came with a CD player but with blue tooth and XM radio, I haven't listen to a CD in a long time...

They are really cheap compared to what they used to be. If you get one through Crutchfeild they will tell you what harnesses and install kits you need.

What is a CD?

I recently replaced the stereo in my Tundra. Factory stereo was FM/XM/CD. Spent $350 and now have touch screen, bluetooth, Apple car play/android auto, back up camera, USB, XM .......

Crutchfield is really the go-to in these situations.

That said, some vehicles are a colossal pain in the arse and it's worth the labor cost to bring it to your local car-audio shop for the install.

I installed one myself a few years ago and it felt like it was more trouble than it was worth, so I had Best Buy do my fiancé’s and I believe it’s free install there.

Yeah, on my commuter car. I have an ‘08 rav 4 and the volume knob was broken . I googled “‘08 rav 4 radio” and bought a Junson touch screen off of eBay for $100. It’s touch screen with Bluetooth. Took 25 minutes to install. Pretty happy with it.

Hadn’t ‘replaced a car radio in probably 25 years. Last year during football season, I figured out that about half of the speakers in my Silverado were no longer working. After football season, I took it to the local sound shop fully expecting to have a terrible experience. Turns out I was pleasantly surprised. The guys at the sound shop figured out what I was looking for and did’nt try to sell me some crap I didn’t need. I came back about a week later and had the speakers installed and have been very happy with the quality of sound.

Short story is, go talk to the guys at your local sound shop...you may be pleasantly surprised. I would recommend going on a weekday morning when there aren’t a bunch of “enthusiasts” there.

Gotta remember to take the face off your CD player and put in the glove compartment when you go in anywhere so nobody breaks in to steal your system.

Bazooka 18" woofers are what you're looking for.

May I ask for more details here? My radio just went out in my F150 & the dealership wants to replace the whole APIM for $1500. I no longer have any function of my radio and I’m considering going aftermarket.

Where/what to buy? Can I bring a unit I purchased from Crutchfield to someone else for installation?
