No responses on the Travel Board.
Will be near Columbus Ga and considering a stop there.
Looking for any info from those that have been there.
Thanks

Went there while at OCS last year.
Highly recommend! Great museum with tons of history. If you like US military history, you'll love it.

I went about three years ago while on a ESGR trip. The museum was really cool, but we only got to spend maybe an hour there.

It’s actually a very good museum. Grew up in Columbus. Probably close to Smithsonian quality. Did love the HS trips to the old one, but definitely worth a visit. Columbus also has a Civil War Naval Museum that’s decent. They were able to find the remains of an old iron clad ship and put it in there.

Not that one, but any base or post I am on I try to see their museum if they have one.

The Pratt museum on Fort Campbell is worth the stop as is the Army transportation museum on Ft. Eustis.

I was at Benning for four months and never went. Still regret it.

Might go to airborne soon and will definitely go

Agreed, that was a great museum. Lots of WW2 stuff and the nuclear bazooka (or whatever they call it) were the highlights for me.

The Medal of Honor display is fantastic. Now that I am retired, my son is a Drill Sergeant for the 19D OSUT recruits at Fort Benning and I will visit every time I visit him.

It was fantastic when it was in the old building and the collections were very well done. I went during 0 week at jump school back in 1995. The Shughart/Gordon MOH memorial was still new at that point.

Would love to visit the new facility in the future

Those guys were studs. Obviously, every recipient of the MOH goes above and beyond the call of duty. But those guys requested that they be inserted into hell multiple times before they received approval.
I don't know how we get men such as this.

Went there many moons ago whilst in Navy, made a pit stop there. Worth the time.

DEFINITELY worth it ! !

It's outside the main gate so no hassles getting there or getting on base.

Went through Basic/AIT at Ft. Benning, (Harmony Church) swore I’d never go back to Columbus Ga. Need to go back and visit the museum.
