I haven’t been part of a trashy intervention, but I was involved in a loving one. My brother died at an early age from colon cancer. His only child, my nephew, was using drugs so I assisted my SIL in his intervention. We were successful initially. He moved into a rehab home in CO. Six months later he was found dead by his roommate. Sadly he was able to get drugs mailed to him from New York. They were laced with Fentanyl. So I say do what you can to save a life regardless of how close you are to him.

A few years ago my aunt had an intervention for her husband that she wanted to disguise as a family outing so he wouldn’t get suspicious. I was asked to meet him outside to walk him in. He immediately recognizes all the family cars in the parking lot and asks, “What’s all this about?” I said, “Uncle, we’re all here for you because we care, and just because you’re a fig doesn’t mean we love you any less, but your wife might not so accepting of your newfound lifestyle.”

I had one done to me. By the same people who spiritually and sexually abused me as a child. If anything it made me worse. When I got clean I was the one that did the intervening.
