I battle depression and my late SO had long time severe treatment resistant depression. If I had one piece of advice it would be don't self isolate. You need to be with people. When my SO had a serious accident and had to do inpatient rehab, her mood immediately improved. She was in an environment that forced her to interact with people. She couldn't hide herself away.

Nope, I’ve just learned to live with it.

Therapy? Depression is an adaptive emotion to show us we need to change, it becomes dysfunctional when it is chronic.

Need more info.

Did this just start randomly?

Did something trigger it?

How long has it been going on?

Have you done/tried anything?

I still occasionally fight it after my mom passed. Honestly cooking and golf do wonders for me. Also get out travel, concerts. My LSU and Saints season tickets help. Yeah we suck now, but I enjoy the live atmosphere. Tailgating is fun too.

Nobody “beats” depression. You just find ways to cope and adapt. Almost everyone will go through depression, be it temporary or severe and lifelong. I find that it’s all about being a step ahead.

Complacency and isolation leads to depression.

I think of you have it, like alcoholism, it's always going to be there. It's just how you live your life with/around it.

Honest take here.

I would look at myself and find the most ways to love what I see in the mirror.

Personally, I had been too hard on myself over the years about big things and little things.

You have to find things about yourself that you love and like about yourself. If you can’t face yourself, you’re never going to be truly able to face anything.

Find lessons to learn from what you regret and forgive yourself for it. We’re all learning more every day.

That was the first step for me and I hope this helps.

It’s all chemical - some people never understand it or why people have it - it’s chemical make up of brain.

Find something easy to do every day. Celebrate the accomplishment when you do it. Could be as simple as taking out the trash. Try to build on it. Take out the trash then walk down your street and back. Eventually you'll be training for marathons and will feel amazing mentally and physically. You'll still have bouts that come back from time to time, but I've noticed that now I can feel them coming. I haven't found a way to stop them, but knowing what it is helps.

Quit being a narcissistic pussy, and think about others instead of yourself. Please don’t procreate either.

It's never an end game win. Find purpose, think one step at a time, write a reasonable list of things to achieve each day, work related or personal, and show kindness to others. Take meds if needed, but be cautious.

Prayer works too if you're into it. Just keep innovating ways to come out of the hole. And enjoy the moments when you do.
