He was considering retiring when he died.
He had been paid a nice advance on his first album, but most of the royalties from albums one and two went to the record company.

Agreed. This always seemed to come on a lot when I was a kid. "You don't tug on Superman's cape... You don't spit in the wind... you don't pull the mask off the ole Lone Ranger, and you don't mess around with Jim."

My favorite is "Operator" though.

there is/was a rumor about someone draining the tanks prior to take off, but there was enough fuel in the lines for it to take off then hit the tree. I lived in natch. for 10 years and heard that story a few times.

Doubt many on the OT know who Jim Croce is much less that he died in Louisiana.

People from Louisiana seem to have more knowledge about music than residents of other states.

Its actually strange how many muscian plane crashes were either headed to, or from Louisiana. .. the day the music died
They (Holly, Valens and Bopper) were in Iowa and heading to Minnesota. Nowhere near La.

right about that, but there were more, Johnny Horton on the way to SHV comes to mind, I'll have to dust off the cobwebs, I think there might be more

I was at Northeast at the time. We were all pretty shocked when the news was broadcasted. Very saddened as he was just in his prime. The way his music survived him is a testament to that. Decent melodies and very good lyrics.

Not coke. Did test positive for weed. Pilot couldn't clear pine trees off end of runway.

My 13 year old son could tell you quite a but as well. He's a heavy favorite in both of our rotating playlists. My favorite songs are "I'll have to say I love you in a song" and "walking back to Georgia"

yes sir, that's a gone era, truly a talented man, now all it takes to get some air time is to either come through the Disney pipeline, or win one of the Karaoke shows, think anyone be hearing the drivel that's being put out as music these days forty years from now?
