Yeah good point. It would be perfect if he did a few jokes and let it be.

I bought the Time Life Johnny Carson box set and just pop one of those in every night at 10:30. lol

The beauty of Carson’s show was you could not tell what his personal politics were. These idiots who do late night now just shill for the far left, thus isolating half the country. Carson was loved by both left and right.

I don't watch his show, but I find it funny that the same guy who got his start with girls jumping on trampolines now is now such a social justice warrior.

I don't understand how Trump haters don't get tired of the incessant Trump hate. I didn't care for Obama, but I sure as hell quit listening to Walton and Johnson because they wouldn't fricking shut up about him. The show just wasn't funny anymore.

I don't watch the local channels, so the only time I encounter it is that black guy on Comedy Central. I just change the channel when I see him. No sweat off of my back

No, because I don't watch mind rot network TV.

I'll tell you what I am sick of -- political threads on the OT. This kind of shite has its own board.

Sadly this is how most uneducated and out of touch Americans form their opinions and go to the polls.

First, you're missing the humor because you don't agree or understand their politics which, of course, shows how uneducated and out-of-touch you are.

Second, and further proof of you being out-of-touch, is the fact that these shows' ratings are UP. While it may be en vogue to be all MAGA in bumfrick Louisiana or Alabama, Trump is the most unpopular President in American history. The vast majority of the population, not stuck in the 1950's like yourself, wants the man ridiculed because, ya know, he's a fricking idiot.

Basically, what y'all are saying is that the ONLY time you're stepping out of the MAGA bubble is to watch late night TV. I can understand how that would be uncomfortable and seem unfair. Open your eyes the rest of the day and you, too, will enjoy the well-deserved arse chewing Trump receives nightly.

I just don't watch any late night shows anymore. Letterman's last few years plus the current crop of "talent" is nothing more than weak political one-shots that is extremely partisan.

If it was close to balance, I would try again but obviously they don't want people like me around in their echo chambers.

What? You don’t like lectures disguised as comedy?

Quite honestly, I cannot tell you the last time I watched a late night talk show, or TV “Programming” in general. I prefer to think for myself.

True.

quote:

It’s not really about politics all of the time it’s the material they are given. You can’t deny that Trump gives comedians a ton of shite on almost a daily basis just off of his Twitter.

Eh, this is a cop out. It's so over the top at this point night after night after night that there's no creativity to it. Even if you hate Trump, you'd think it'd get old at some point.

quote:

You might hate Obama as a president but he was pretty boring.

Eh, he was in the media more than enough to give comedic material. Moreso than any other POTUS to that point, in fact. He was just "untouchable" for negative comedy in late night media circles.

quote:

stop giving them material and they won’t go as hard.

If there's anything I've learned about leftists since 2016, it's that they will go hard regardless
