My wife and I were in Home Depot last year looking at refrigerators. We were checking out the Samsung models thinking they looked very nice. I heard another guy talking to HD employee about problems with his refrigerator and he saw us and walked over and said don’t get Samsung. He said that the ice maker never works and he’s tried everything. We went with the GE model and so far so good. I was just lucky he bought it to my attention. Sorry to hear about your issues.

That's what I did except I couldn't find any cheaper than 200 for my fridge so I found out the part number for the actual ice tray itself then cross referenced it to find a different icemaker that used the same tray for only $65 on ebay. Bought that one. Disassembled it once I got it and swapped the heating element into mine and it worked.
Chalmation Ingenuity!
I can't stand this kind of crap. I just went through the same thing with a transmission cooler.

Is the same as this

I’ve bought the basic Kenmore side by side fridge/freezers since 1973. They are spartan units but seem to just keep going. Of course my kitchen doesn’t have the latest, sleek designs, but with everything else Whirlpool, no real issues.
I did buy a new Kenmore fridge/freezer in 1992 but just to get a newer model. The old side by side is down in the basement used as a backup and cooling water, beer, and freezing meats.

posting again.
there is a lawsuit that deals with the ice maker issues. If you call, they will fix it free of charge.

I only buy Samsung TVs but my wife had to have that freaking refrigerator.
I wouldn’t buy a phone made by whirlpool so why in the hell would I buy an appliance made by samsung. They’re cheap for a reason

They suck. Samsung makes great TVs though

Fill old butter tubs with water, freeze them, chip off ice you need with an ice pick, enjoy your cole drank.

We bought a Samsung and it was the worst ice maker I have ever had - the sales man promised you had to empty bc there was too much ice - instead, you could not have a dinner of 4 and have ice
We ended up giving to the people that bought our house
Only solution we could find was about twice a week, taking a blow dryer to the ice unit for about 5 minutes - kept it working - Samsung came out and said that our line from the water source was bent, but that wasn't it - it is just that the unit is not very good

Ours does exactly the same way. We have had two new ice makers put in and it still does this. We just check it about once a week and knock all the stuck and jammed ice out.

My Samsung refrigerator story.
I bought the extended warranty and after many service calls from the warranty company to fix the ice maker they refunded the cost of the refrigerator and told me to call Samsung with any more issues.
After many service calls from Samsung they replaced the refrigerator.

I, too, have the 5-year warranty and am near the end of year 3. I’m on my fourth ice maker.
Best Buy and Samsung don’t want to refund or replace but are paying a third-party repair service more than $500 a call to fix it.
I plan to call at least twice more whether I have a problem or not just to make them have to fork over $2500 to fix my $2300 refrigerator.
