Anybody know how to fix the ice maker on Samsung French door refrigerators?

We emptied the ice bucket filling up the ice chest. Now it just makes the noise it makes when you want to get ice but the ice bucket is empty. I tried every video from YouTube on how to fix it and its still not making any ice. What would be the main problem?

Probably frozen line. Put warm water in spouted condiment bottle. Squirt it up the line. Or hair dryer

It’s a problem with the design imo. We have one and the ice gets blocked up at the top and then stops making ice bc it thinks it’s full. You have to reach your hand up into the ice maker and pry the ice out.

Yeah... I think his name is Appliance Repair Man

Bought 4 pcs of Samsung a couple of years ago and have had problems with every stinking one of them. The microwave would turn on by itself, refrigerator keeps freezing, Dishwasher wouldn't empty and something to do with the stove, i will ask the wife.
Called their 1800 # and they were no help. Then asked me if i could give a review and stated that their product was trash and would tell everyone i knew never to by Samsung appliances again.

I only buy Samsung TVs but my wife had to have that freaking refrigerator.

You need to hard reset the system. You push two of the buttons on the top at the same time. Google samsung hard reset and you should be able to figure it out.
Every time the power goes out I get an E1 message and have to reset the system for the ice maker to start working again.

I'm fundamentally opposed to ice makers on refrigerator doors. They're constantly breaking. Ice bucket in the freezer is good enough for me.

Been there done that. Have had three ice makers installed and each tech said it is a known flaw of Samsung French door types.
The freezer setup is located in the general compartment so that when you open the doors humid air (especially in the South during summer) mingles in with the freezer area and gradually frosts up the freezer and jams the ice up against the “ceiling” and trapping the ice and thus no ice drops.
Jammed.
There is no repair per se, it is a design flaw with class actions filed. Alas, the ice maker is optional and not considered a part of the unit therefore not covered under lemon laws and refrigerator is not returnable.
You, I and all others with these type units are stuck with them.
However, there are work arounds. I tried prying, chipping, scraping and ice-picking. All were maddening. I also used a hair dryer and it worked great until I melted some plastic at the top and really fricked it up.
So, the last tech told me that they use a steamer (about $30 on Amazon — Performance Tool W50079 Red/Black 900W Handheld Steam Cleaner) and it works like a charm, is fast and won’t damage the ice maker guts.
Damn good refrigerator but a suck-arse ice maker.

They also can quite easily get absolutely disgusting if you ever bother to look inside them
You wont ever use ice again out of one if you have seen some of them

Hit it and say heeeeeeyyyyy

Oh yeah, the tech advised me not to open the doors so often — wtf.
And what kind of lives do we have if we’re discussing ice makers at midnight on the Internet?

Just save yourself the headache and buy a new one. We have the model with the tablet in the door and that’s the only thing that seems to work without issue.

After this one goes out, or goes to the patio, I’m going back to Kitchenaid or Whirlpool.

I moved it into the shop and we went with a KitchenAid set. No complaints at all. My wife likes the sleekness of the counter depth.

Same. I have a Samsung French door with freezer on bottom. The ice drops into a bucket on the top shelf of freezer. I’ve had too many problems with in door ice makers today ever go that route again

Our ice maker in the top is constantly freezing up. I’m going to caulk the seal and see if that works. Problem is moist air gets into the ice maker bin and causes it to freeze up. pITA.

Tech told me that standard side-by-side, in-the-door ice makers have very few problems today. The ice maker is in the freezer, not the refrigerator. So no frosting, jamming problems.
Seems they engineered a whole new problem for sake of convenience. Ain’t that just like the French.

Ah, but shared miseries can be comforting. I’ll sleep a bit better tonight.
