Google for the forced defrost (fd) code. Usually the top left - middle right buttons simultaneously for approx 10 seconds. You will have to do it two or three times. The refrigerator beeps the entire time. Remove the ice build-up that is usually on the top of the internal ice tray before the forced defrost. You may also need to use a hair dryer.

Careful doing this. My FIL applied too much heat and melted the plastic

As someone else mentioned, try the reset button. On mine it was a small rubber button on side the icemaker that you can see after you pull the bucket out. Press and hold till you hear a "ding" alert. Sometimes it takes 24 hours for it to start making ice again.
If that doesn't work, obviously there's a bigger issue. In mine, the warming element went out. It's a metal rod that is attached under the freezing tray that warms the tray enough to release the ice when the auger is ready to push the cubes(half moons) out of the freezing tray and into the bucket below. Since the ice could not get pushed the auger never made it back to "home" position which would alert the maker to call for more water.

Type in model number in google and ebay to find the ice maker and if I remember it is about $100. Watch a you tube video on how to install a new ice maker

That's what I did except I couldn't find any cheaper than 200 for my fridge so I found out the part number for the actual ice tray itself then cross referenced it to find a different icemaker that used the same tray for only $65 on ebay. Bought that one. Disassembled it once I got it and swapped the heating element into mine and it worked.
Chalmation Ingenuity!

Same problem with a Frigidaire that is 3 years old. Constant headache.

Yep
Sell it.
No fix other than hand-defrost when frozen. Sometimes, slightly elevating fridge (front to back) helps.

I'm fundamentally opposed to ice makers on refrigerator doors. They're constantly breaking.
Lucky?

Damn good refrigerator but a suck-arse ice maker.
That means its a shitty refrigerator. Staying cold is not a major accomplishment.

My parents have some high end fridge/freezer and just had this issue. I think Napoleon posted a month or so ago that Samsung is a design defect, but this is also a problem with most other brands.
No issues here with my cheap Whirlpool with the freezer on top.

Unplug the modem and plug it back in after 45 seconds.

I've got a Samsung with an ice maker in the bottom freezer and it's broken too.
