The term “Grand” was overused.

the colorado monument is fantastic.
moab, monument, arches national parks are close enough to see in one day(almost). Glenwood springs/Aspen is pretty close.

there's a really nice resort in Gateway, CO south of there that has an amazing auto museum.

tldr: grand junction is a good visit, rent a car, google stuff to do.

I could live there. In general, the western slope has all the things people love about Colorado without the traffic and crowds of the eastern slope. At least for now.

If I had a choice I'd pick Durango over Grand Junction.

See I would pick Montrose over both. Love Durango but it has to be one of the coldest places to live on the western slope - it’s a stretch calling Durango western slope.

I love Hotchkiss though.

One of my favorite places I've been for work. If you like beer, the Grand Mesa is loaded with microbreweries. The area is very pretty, to a swamp dwelling flatlander at least

If I thought my wife would tolerate the winters there, I'd have seriously considered getting a job there. I had an overture from the company I was working for but knew that wasn't in the cards for me at that time so it never went any further.

You looking at a job there or just travel?

I think you should move to New Hampshire

It's hot as hell in the summer. It's windy and dusty, gets pretty cold in the winter. Good things are a Rockies Pioneer League team, great peaches from Palisades, great hiking and camping in the area and it's not a big town.

Spent lots of time there. It's a small college town, about comparable to Lafayette (in Louisiana terms). Palisade is really nice, and there is quick access to at least a couple of ski resorts. As places to live go, you could do a lot worse.

May have a job offer there. Next place I move, I want to stay so I’ve been kinda careful. Going to try to make a trip out there this Fall. I have an offer in New Hampshire but they aren’t going to wait forever. Not really crazy about the NH weather. Wife and I both love Northern AZ, but I’ve never been to CO.

Is uranium prospecting still a big thing out there?

Tourist towns to the south, the Durango Silverton Railroad, great late season Peach crops near GJ, wide open spaces defined by mountains, the expense and time to get anywhere.

No idea. I’d be doing a job that is based in GJ but I’d be covering early the entire western half of the state

I have passed through there several times. Not a lot in Grand Junction... but a lot is near it.

The western slope isn’t the best part of the state tbh. Had family in Montrose years ago. The best thing I can say about it is that it was an easy drive to Telluride.
