re: Anybody have kidney stones?

I live with kidney stones regularly. I am 76 so I am much older than you I suspect. A couple of years ago while at my lake house in central La. I had a total blockage in both kidneys. To make a long story shorter, I was transported to Baton Rouge via ambulance, as there was no urologist available in the area I was in. (Natchez Mississippi)

At Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, they called in Dr. Angelo Annaloro, a Baton Rouge Urologist. He performed emergency surgery to open my unitary track and saved both my kidneys which were within an hour of being permanently damaged.

The point is, find a good urologist. I just lucked on that one as I live in Houston. Oh, I have had a great urologist here for several years, but if you are in Baton Rouge, Dr. Angelo Annaloro has my vote.

With a good urologist you can figure out a way to control them and have the care necessary to get through it all. And YES, they are worse that labor.

Inescapable pain. Hammer the water until it makes its way out.

Last one I had I went to the ER and morphine didn’t even take the edge off.

Good luck and drink a ton of water from now on the keep those kidneys flushed.

I do - get them every couple years. had to have 1 surgically removed, passed 5 others - 3 of which got stuck coming out the end, and I pulled them out.

if it is a steady pain that no position you sit/stand/lay helps it, it is probly a stone.

Opiates really don't do much for it, but a strong NSAID is a miracle.

I have had 8. All the men on my mothers side of the family get them. All I drink is water and I will get them every 3 years or so. It's brutal. Prayers being sent your way.

I had one and it was not a pleasant experience for the first 48 hours. Then the pain subsided but it stayed stuck in my bladder or another part of the kidney.

Once I peed out what looked like bloody grains of sand that is when I started to feel better.

Then after about 6 weeks of monitoring the stone through an X-ray the doctor recommended removal and then they basted it out.

I was back at work the next day and then had to have a stent for about a week and a half.

I was able to get knocked out twice with anesthesia. I didn’t feel a thing. I wish it would happened earlier in the calendar year, because I met my annual deductible that year and it was nice for the “free healthcare” that I never use.

I haven’t had once since but have had a few scares of possibly having one.

I know someone that has had over 20 and they know the ER staff on a first name basis.

I've had at least 20 of them over the years and they are nothing nice. I finally got a handle on them after having some of them going to a lab for analysis to see what was causing them.

Same symptoms for the most part, hip/back pain and when it starts moving in the urinary tract, depending on how big it is, it will hurt like hell.

What helped me when they were moving was to take as hot a bath as I could stand and it gave me immediate relief, but unfortunately, it didn't last long once out of the tub.

A heating pad helped some, but passing it is the only thing that really brings relief.

And before you pass it, you will feel like you have to piss like a racehorse, only to have it dribble out. Drink plenty of water when you get that "I have to piss" feeling and ignore it as long as you can until you work up a good piss.

When it passes, you will be mid-stream and it will shut off almost all the way, then you will feel it run down the last of the urinary tract of you manhood and it will make a splashdown in the toilet.

If you are concerned what is causing them, piss into a strainer of some kind and take it to a urologist for analysis.

Mine was caused by uric acid, the same stuff that causes gout. I take one pill a day and haven't had one in a couple years now. Best pill I've ever taken.

Unless it’s really bad, you are home free once it’s in the bladder. I had to strain my pee through a net until both of mine eventually passed. I actually did not feel either as they went through the dick passage.

Pain meds will do nothing. You need to ask for a anti inflammatory. Tordal(spelling)

the actual part of pissing it out is completely painless. The real pain is when it’s moving through the urethra deep inside.
