I resell and install a product for a Fortune 500 technology company and they try to poach me all the time.

When I think of the lack of community and having to deal with corporate BS, I’m grateful for my small company with mediocre benefits and people I like.

There is an annoying woman at my office and I conspired with a coworker to steal and lock this woman’s gift that she LOVED during our office dirty Santa. She almost started crying…keep in mind, the gift limit was just $25. It was like a Stanley or a tumbler. It was amazing. She ended up with a tactical pen that you could use to break windows in an emergency. Best day ever.

When I was 18-19 back in 96-97 worked at a place where we had some good parties. Boss would give us our bonus, take us out to lunch. Then we would end up at some bar and he would give us more money to gamble, they had some back-room blackjack and poker going on. If you was interested he would get a barmaid to give you a Beej or some poon. One of my former coworkers actually got a divorce because of it, instead of hitting it once and moving on, he made it a habit. Good Times. RIP Mr. BB

No one has ever been promoted because of an office party, but lots have been fired. Yeah, no thanks.

Ours does not involve SO’s, so you don’t have to worry about anyone giving you the stinkeye. Sometimes a spouse or two will show up during the afterparty bar hopping phase, and it can kill the vibe (depending on the spouse).

Years ago we had some greenhorn associate get into it with a Chalmatian secretary who would literally fight anybody. They settled it with a shot contest in the Napoleon House courtyard. It was exactly like the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark. The little dude passed out and may have thrown up on himself. We were asked to leave and never come back. Good times.

That’s low-key awesome.
Petty vindictiveness feels good in small doses.

4 years ago I worked for a large insurance brokerage based in Dallas. Had our christmas party at the Omni Hotel. One guy took acid and was standing outside of the bathroom talking shite about the agency owners and the CEO. The CEO was right behind him in line. He was fired and out of our system by 8am the next day

That escalated quickly. Damn.
The line between boss arranging prostitution and not is pretty huge.

I haven't been to an after hour office party in a long time...but damn they were fun back in the 90's when companies didn't have the liability issues to deal with

Went to the wife's and mine.
Combined amount of fun was about a 5 out of 10.
Ours seems to get weaker every year with cutbacks.
Before long ,it won't be anything more than catered fast food.

Funny how common that is.

Sounds a lot like my last firm's party. Was pretty damn awesome. It seemed about 50/50 odd weird people to cool people but I knew a bunch of people from earlier life, so we tore it up pretty hard.

Going to attempt to stay sober for ours this weekend for reasons. Wish meh luck.

Used to have a huge one with a band, tons of great food and an open bar. In addition to all the employees, lots of friends of the owners would get invited. Every year it would get bigger and bigger and outsiders crashing it for all the free food and booze. Had to get local law to work it to keep out the uninvited. The mayor even crashed it one time and went around shaking everyone's hand, including one of the owners, and thanking them for showing up, like it was his party. Finally had to change over to a Christmas luncheon for just employees because it was getting so big and out of hand.

Had ours yesterday. Eight of us, all in our 40s and 50s.

We ate and talked 80s cartoons and stuff. Fun and nastalgic.
