Anybody go to the Bacchus ball? Apparently Shaq was not a great king.

We went and were up on the kings platform as one of my friends has a dad who I guess can pull that.

Anyway, he told us Shaq left basically right after his float rolled into the convention center and he also did not go to any of the pre parade functions during the week, including charity events.

In the past when I’ve gone, the King had stayed and partied for at least a while and spoke to the crowd. They also usually did a few loops on their float.

Curious if anybody else went and noticed this or knows people more behind the scenes who knew what happened.

ETA: people got weirdly defensive about this. I don’t really care other than I think people figured Shaq would be one of the more fun kings in Bacchus’ history. Not a huge deal just something that was noticed. I honestly figured he was just old and wanted to go to bed

My guess is he was probably appearing/DJing somewhere that evening.

Or, had a TNT obligation

He’s a busy man. Guess he couldn’t stick around and play dress up for too much longer and some people got a little miffed that they might not be as important as they thought they were.

If they want a king to party they need to choose one that likes to party.

I remember that. And so was John c Reilly and Anthony mackie. Both were clearly blasted.

In fact. Mackie tried to get his guitar and go up stage and play. Thank god his wife talked him out of it.

I guess that is why we did not see anything about his visit to Children’s Hospital.

i was there. There was definitely some disappoint in Shaq's participation in the event.

He was probably doped up.

Shaq's people are pretty up front about how much time you will get from him when you hire him. It's 30 minutes for his DJ gig, and that isn't 30 minutes performing... that's a total 30. I am sure there are other arrangements, but I have heard they are pretty up front.

Who cares, lol cry later. No one cares about that crap like some of you think everyone should. Next time get some local yokel drunk off the street. Betcha he or her will stay until the day breaks
