He's hilarious. His stand up and his crowd work is awesome.
"What do you guys want to talk about"
"Afghanistan"
"Are you from there?"
"Yeah"
"it's ironic you're from there and I'm the one on stage bombing right now"

If you want to learn more about his early life listen to his episode of the 'Are you Garbage?' podcast.
I do believe he was garbage when it was all said and done.

He grew up in this massive historic home on Esplanade and he has some crazy stories about it. He came home one time to his parents tied up from a robbery.
That tracks, because i heard Normand mention one time on a podcast that he actually grew up in Treme.. struck me as a little odd, becuase i grew up living all over the NOLA metro and i dont think i ever met anyone who grew up , or lived, in Treme .

This was from back during the covid shutdown, and his his first appearance on the Are you Garbage? podcast. The two hosts definitely have faces for podcast.
"My parents are intellectual queefs...." was his first line.

I went there once to pick up my brother and they were living in it while they were doing construction. It was a mess. They also operated it as a bed and breakfast. His parents were definitely quirky. Him becoming a comic makes sense.

Even Gillis wasn't sure how to handle that quip.

He didn't come up in Louisiana. He moved to the NYC scene, and worked those clubs.
I think he was part of the Lucy’s comedy night scene. A whole gaggle of them moved to NYC around 2007/2008. Most have done well and a few are back here with desk jobs.

N.O. comedian Mark Normand
He's funny but either a transplant or so autistic that he is incapable of having an accent. Seriously, do you know anyone native to New Orleans that talks like that?

I can't help but think of Lovitz every time he says it.

Holy shite, I came here to post this. He doesn't sound like anyone in Lousiana. I can't place his accent at all.
Theo Vonn you can definitely hear the South Louisiana accent, New/Orleans, North Shore accent. Normand, I have no idea.

Met him a few months ago at skankfest there in NOLA. He was just chilling in the crowd after one of his sets.
Was nice enough to get pictures with everyone in our group

Don’t know much about Treme except of the huge demographic shift post-Katrina…at least on paper it shows that. It’s north of the FQ, right? Was this place hood or no?

So him being from NO makes him funnier?
Wut? My post was pretty clear. Upon finding out he was from NO, I was curious if the many residents on here had seen him coming up.

He can be funny in small doses, but a full stand up routine of his is hard to get through.

That’s interesting. What do you think he was inferring?
Simply that you don't hear of any of the more successful comedians being from New Orleans and OP thought it interesting that now there is. That's a much more plausible deduction than what you came up with imo.

The "lynching" line is so dark / genius. Shane's reaction gets me every time.

The accent he uses is put on. Not his real voice but he’s trained himself to talk like that.
