Anybody ever explore an abandoned building, factory, etc.?

There are lots of youtube videos of people exploring old buildings, mines, or other industrial areas. I always find it fascinating. I explored an abandoned paint manufacturing plant once. Lots of stuff was just left in place like they had an unannounced shut down. On one of the bulletin boards was a list of their goals for the year and one of them was “to be the most profitable manufacturing site in the company”. My guess was they didn’t achieve that one.

That seems to be catching on.
I watched the whole series (well, two separate series) of guys going under the cover of night into Chernobyl. It was awesome.
Another guy, John the Explorer I believe his name is, somehow got a guided freaking tour into the sarcophagus and was in the control room etc. His guide was a babe too

There's numerous videos with people exploring the Plaza Tower and the Esplanade Mall...

Tiger Stadium dorms in 2003. It was at night and I didn't have a flashlight so I didn't get very far. I was afraid I'd fall through a hole in the floor and break myself and nobody would ever know. Or I'd run into somebody else in there...It was very creepy.
It wasn't something I had planned to do. Was walking to my car after an event and I saw a door ajar.

Before the old Heidelberg hotel in downtown Baton Rouge was restored and turned into the Hilton hotel it is now, some buddies and I went in and explored it.
It was sporting the 1980s decor. Pretty cool experience.
All the homeless dudes living in it were friendly and offered us some of their bum wine.

When I was a kid we used to get in the Lake and swim around the fences to get into the Prestressed Concrete Plant in Mandeville. It was our premier BB gun war site. All sorts of abandoned barges, tugboats and equipment. God knows what chemicals we were playing in.
Amazingly that site still sits there undeveloped because of the NIMBY Old Mandeville people.

One time a 'urban explorer' kept spamming his content in a regional online group. People would ask for locations and he would never answer. I recognized one location and posted it (think it was the old powerplant along the river in NOLA). The guy started threatening me lol.

Years ago for my friends eagle scout project we spent some time clearing out an abandoned, but not like condemmed like you see the videos about, building for....reasons
Was interesting to see something that looked completely frozen in time. One of the offices had a big map on the wall that still included the USSR and east Germany

I explored an old Air Force base in spring Texas once. Walked into an old hangar and was nearly decapitated by a massive white owl.

I haven't been out there since it closed but apparently George AFB looks like the AF woke up one day and just walked away from it, or it did at first

In high school some buddies and I went to the old, abandoned school in Logtown late one night. A lot of the AC units looked new, but there was trash all over the floor and the gym floorboards had warped. It was suitably creepy and -being teens- we made sure to talk about ghosts, demons, serial killers, etc. to heighten the feeling.
We were in one old, empty classroom when something on the other side in a dark corner moved. We damned near broke the doors down trying to get out of there.
After a few minutes of no axe-wielding demon coming after us we slowly made our way back in to see what the noise was. It turned out to be that one of the pieces of litter strewn in the room was a window blind lying on the floor in the darkened corner. It had a looooooong cord reaching halfway across the room and someone's step on it had been enough to move the blinds.

I found an old wooden framed house in the woods about 25 years ago that had been vacant for a long time. Found a journal with writings that seemed like they were dying of cancer or caring for someone who was dying of cancer. Bed pan and few other things laying around that confirmed the journal.

No. I'm not a fan of asbestos exposure.
