just a word of advice, for your AC go 2 stage or variable speed if you can. While a little more $$$ it is way more efficient

definitely feel you here. My wife's SUV I thought was having something minor going on so we took it to our mechanic ( I trust him) and guess what Transmission was going bad. He gave me a deal for $2000 and installled a reconditioned one. Fast forward one month later my AC starts going and that's going to cost me $1200. Last week we go to Tampa for four days SUV starts to overheat. I replaced the fan for the radiator yes that only cost me $400 and some sweat. BTW my mortgage went up in January because my Homeowners insurance doubled. FUUUUUCCCKK. Myself and my wife both work and make decent money but feels like we can never get ahead especially with this inflation going up and the paychecks barely moving up.

You are not alone

Just bought a house. Changing out a piecemealed system that is 20 years old. Getting two Trane XV20 variable speed. I have variable speed on my former home and I’ll never go back to single stage.

Also replacing the ductwork.

Huge cost. I would rather be proactive in replacing an AC than reactive, especially when they usually break at the perfect time such as July 4th weekend

My catalytic converters were stolen Jan 2022.

I just spent about $4000 on new catalytic converters. frickin pissed I tell ya. Some shitball thief stole all four. Insurance replaced them with shitty non-OEM and they went out after 2.5 years. I wouldn’t have cared but I couldn’t pass inspection and get a new brake tag. What a racket.

I love it when shops charge you for 5 hours of labor on something when some dude on YouTube did the exact same job on the exact same vehicle in less than 30 minutes

Same here. Just had to have clothes washer fixed, some AC work is next, need to buy car for teenage kid soon, and on and on. Always something looming.

ac is at 74 when it’s set to 70. I just cleaned the filter a couple weeks ago.

Have you cleaned the outside unit recently? The condenser coils I believe is what its called.

Yeah, it sucks being an adult. Every time I turn around I'm spending $200 on something I don't really want to spend it on but have to.
