I had a very short wick. Started 50 mg daily of Zoloft, a beta blocker and heavy exercising. Seems to be working for the last 5 years.

I only had this with a person twice in my life who seemingly wanted to destroy me one argument at a time and I removed them from my life and the problem was solved. Circa 2018-2019 I punched a few walls. Someone since then has intentionally pushed all the buttons and made me physically ill. Get the toxic people out and watch your heart rate go to where God wants it, and be the man you know you can be. If you are raging at your wife or other family you have to stop IMMEDIATELY. That will become your legacy, not your sacrifices and good intentions, if you go too far. Men have to watch this carefully, let’s face it.

As for work anger, I’ve got no experience in that.

Why were you talking back?

Because a lot of times parents give shitty answers to kids questions.

"Because I said so" is the weakest response you can give to a child.

I struggle with anger. I have a very public image job so I always have to internalize everything publically, but I just take it home with me and struggle with anger non-stop. Not to the point of violence, but to the point of breaking things, punching the wall, snapping off at people, road rage, etc. Just do not know how to let things not bother me - even things I have no control over. I recognize the problem and want to fix it, but don't know where to start.

Sounds like you need a good arse whooping.
That will help you control yourself.

Hey man, I'm not reading the thread so I don't know what was covered. What I'm going to tell you though is rooted in professional experience and is fairly simple to follow.

First of all, you don't need to begin with a psychiatrist. You can if you want and there's no problem with that, but where I would start first is my primary care physician. Explain your symptoms and ask about Lexapro. Lexapro is a really good medication for taking the edge off. Side effects are minimal (if at all) and it's really easy to prescribe. PCP's are comfortable with it. There are other good medications but Lexapro is a solid, proven go to drug.

Get into talk therapy. There you'll find workable coping strategies. Talk therapy combined with the medication is a really good combo.

Exercise. There's alot of anxiety in what you're describing as well. One of, if not the most important coping mechanisms for anxiety is physical activity.

The anger, the anxiety and the self loathing that comes from how you feel after you act out, also creates depression. The medication helps with all of this.

You're describing violence, be that toward inanimate objects or human beings, and that's something that requires pharmacological intervention.

The medication works and works well. You're in a rough patch. Let the medication help you through it. Once therapy and maybe even a new set of personal and professional goals are in place, you'll be ready to let go of both. Give yourself a solid year, year and a half to be fully ok again. The intended therapeutic affect of the medication however will begin within 4 to 6 weeks, before that though expect it to energize you.

Counseling, exercise, and getting outdoors. That’s what works for me.

Go to a therapist. Just the act of talking about things can really help.
