Nope.. Got a shite ton of acreage in an undisclosed location surrounded 30,000 acres of forest , about a 100,000 rounds of 9mm, 5.56 and a smattering of other rounds... fuel tank reserves and seed storage.... If the world goes to shite I'm out..

Tons of “great advice” about this to be found these days. It’s quite an impressive and thriving industry/economy.

The prepping industry was valued at USD 14.1 billion in 2025 and is expected to reach USD 26.7 billion by 2032, growing at a rate of 9.5% annually. This growth is driven by increasing consumer demand for emergency preparedness products due to… the fear-driven economy we have lived in since Y2K.

Wow. The industry is going to nearly double in 7 years. I know a lot of it is due to sensible people planning for weather emergencies and such, but that’s not what you’re here for, is it? I admit- I got sucked into it for a while. No regrets- the only thing I bought that I don’t regularly use (but definitely will) is the food supply. Everyone in the gulf coast should have a plan and supplies for hurricane season. If you are an avid outdoorsman, you probably have most of what you’d need. If you’re not, you probably won’t make it very far anyway.

Doomsday prepping is is one of two things (to me): a defend the fort strategy, or a never ending camping trip in a hostile environment.

How defensible is your fort? Have enough guns and ammo for how long? Are you prepared to kill people? If you live in a neighborhood, like me, you have near zero chance of long term survival. There are more entry points than you can likely cover at once, and certainly more than you can monitor 24/7. Not to mention how easily a house can be destroyed, or a wall breached. I don’t have any problem with any of my neighbors, but none of our children are starving right now either and we all have jobs and things to do. I’d like to think none of them would kill me for a taco but I don’t want to find out the hard way that I was wrong.



Then there’s the camping trip. Where are you going? Have you considered multiple locations and routes depending on multiple scenarios? Are you alone? How much can you carry? Certainly less than you will need. How will you acquire the things you need? Are you capable and willing? Everyone underestimates how hard it is to feed yourself, consistently and sufficiently, without the luxuries of civilization.

Not alone? How many, how trustworthy, and can they carry their load plus? In what ways are each of them strong and weak? Who’s going to lead this group? What is your constitution, so to speak?

There’s safety in numbers- but more numbers means more visible, and you will inevitably meet opposition of more/stronger numbers. Like minded people who survive the first wave will coalesce in a world with no law. Who do you think that favors?

Most importantly, are you mentally and spiritually prepared to live your everyday life in a war torn apocalypse? Constant REAL FEAR. The only relief is your early death. Starvation, rape, murder, theft, deception all around. Everyone is a potential threat. Even a child becomes bait for a trap. Are you ready to see the absolute worst of humanity? Are you willing to engage in these actions to squeeze another year (if you’re extremely lucky) out of life? Then what? Would it be worth it?




You need to answer these questions (and many more) before you go spending a bunch of money. If you start making a plan, your needs will be evident. Otherwise you’ll just be donating to someone else’s cause. If there is a SHTF event, you will need answers to these questions as well as the plan and supplies in place prior to.

That said, we all should have some level of emergency preparedness. From weather to riots, we all have need for it. I’m as pro-gun, pro-self defense and pro-get the bad guy as anyone. But the best thing we all can do to prepare for this doomsday scenario or the inevitable event of our own deaths otherwise is to

I would definitely eat people to stay alive.

Our Family got in early on a piece of "real estate" within a luxury doomsday bunker community hidden and nestled in an undisclosed location.

My understanding is that the luxury doomsday bunker community has recently added a pickleball court and small movie theatre.

The pricing at that time included a guaranteed, private extraction for all Family members from a separate, undisclosed location directly to the luxury doomsday bunker community.

I started going down that path after my head cleared from Katrina. Soon realized that most everything associated with prepping is just a major ripoff and were companies set up explicitly to take advantage of people.

I have since shifted to more practical things like preparing things that will make life easier in the event of a week-long power outage similar to what we would see after a hurrricane as opposed to long term survival.
