Yes. Keep up this pace for 3+ years and you get to meet cardiologists and psychiatrists and neurosurgeons

Fricking this. I had a brutal schedule last year. 13/1 and the 1 would usually be to go see doctor for meds. BP was thru the roof. The stress wears you down.

i did it for about 4 months before i burned out.
and had to take an extended break.

13 hours a day, 7 days a week.
longest stretch i pulled without a day off was 56 days.

no real desire to ever do that again either.

There is a partner in the company that has evidently been doing the same kind of work load

So she works the same hours as the partner who is on his 3rd marriage, likely from infidelity?

Probably need to use some of her earning to hire a private investigator. This way you’ll know if she’s fricking a good ol baw or some bbc.

She’s cheating on you.

Additionally all this “work” is simply being present. It is well documented that there are only so many good decisions you can make in a given period of time. You can stare at your screen 12 hours a day but only a few of those hours are worth a shite.

This.

I mean, i’m not working even close to 90 hrs/week.. but when you work remotely from home as i do, between phone calls and emails, you’re never truly what most people consider ‘off’.. it’s a trade off i’ll gladly take though, to avoid office politics, water-cooler BS and traffic.

I'm in this boat, too...but there's a big difference between what we do and someone who is at their workplace, away from home, 90 hours a week. That's ridiculous and no amount of money is worth that much work. That's working 13 hour days every day. Factor in sleep and you're literally living to work.

A former coworker of mine, now works at a place essentially 7 days a week. Each day's hours are basically only 8 ( a few 12's mixed in, but will often work 40+ days straight. Makes a shite ton of money.
But let's review:

Over the past year now has had
1. a spouse separation
2. back pains that now must go to chiropractor
3. some type of gall bladder surgery/kidney something or the other

Worth it? I doubt it. Complains about missing games, other events.

Did 12 hr shifts for about 6 months straight back when I was in the Marines. Two important factors that make it better or worse, quality of food and weather.

I used to work about 90/week. I enjoyed my work and was a bit over-focused on my career. Then I had a kid and now I try to spend as much time as possible at home.
In retrospect, it wasn’t a very healthy way to live, being so career-obsessed. It can take a toll on your well-being and your relationships.

I used to work 90-100 hours a week for 7 to 8 months out of the year, and 50 to 60 a week the rest of the year, and it was to make money for another man.

IMO...f*ck that. Literally and figuratively, life is too short when you slave away in futility like that. Never again will I work like that so that another man can reap the benefits of the sweat of my brow and the sacrifices of me and my family.

No matter the future gains or opportunities or possibility of losses, never EVER again will that be me!

Amen. To this day and for the rest of my days, those times when I worked like that will affect my health. I compromised my health for the rest of my days by living that life.

90 hours a week my fricking arse. There’s more to this story here. There’s only 168 hours in a week. Definitely cheating on you

That's what it took to start my businesses. Most people are not willing to do that. It's tough to continue it. Took several years but freedom comes afterwards.

Yeah, you really got to wonder what the frick you're living for if all you're doing is working. shite, if what the OP is saying is truth, and his wife isn't just getting something on the side (which is what's probably really going on) that's 17 hours a day. I wouldn't even be able to get enough sleep to function. Really, I don't even see how people could possibly be productive working that much. At some point there are diminishing returns, and it starts to be counter-productive.

I’ve been doing this consistently since
2012-ish. Running a small business and aiming to retire early. Single and no kids at 34 makes it feasible.

Keep a $100 Benjamin taped across your headboard as a symbol for motivation; while keeping the mindset that at age 45, you’re done and retiring early and living the life you postponed.
