They're good.
My wife drives one. This is the 5th 4Runner we've owned.

Mind if I butt in, instead of making my own thread?
Our Subaru Outback was totaled this past week after someone hit my wife.
We are seriously looking at a Toyota Venza with the V6 to replace it. Has anyone had one? Likes/dislikes, Pro's/Con's?

Can't get over the exterior styling but people who have them seem to like them a lot.

I didn't read any of the responses but I can just about guarantee you that every person that has had one loves it. I have had two. They are awesome cars.

They did, we are going used. Only have around $16,000 to work with. The reliability consumer report on the V6 in the Venza is very good.

I actually think it looks pretty good with the 20" rims that some models had. I'm sure the tires are expensive as hell to replace though.

Love my wife's 4Runner. Prefer my Tahoe, mostly. Both fantastic vehicles.

Had 2 GM's (Yukon/Denali) before. Pieces of shite that both fell apart at 75K miles. The 4Runner we bought has been a champ with ZERO problems. It's not as big and has the feel of an SUV, but I would never pay 60K-85K for some GM piece of shite that is totally worthless after 8 years. Go to John Clay Wolfe's site and see what the GM vehicles are worth after 100K miles compared to a Toyota.

Wife bought a 2016 last year. Neither the engine, nor the AC is very impressive, IMO. Pretty nice otherwise. If we get 200k or 300k out of it, I will love it.
I demanded rear wheel drive, and a frame, which pretty much meant the 4runner, a Tahoe, or the Dodge (can't remember the name) Tahoe was spendy, and I'm a conservative Ford guy, so government motors was out. I think she chose well.

I have a 4Runner, love it and agree with the going with the Premium package.
Came from having a Tundra and the ride is wayyy better.
Only thing I would've done different is get the 4WD. Its split all time AWD and rides & handles better than the 2WD.
Toyotas are reliable in general &4Runners have the 2nd highest resale value behind a Jeep Wrangler.
For what you'll pay for a Premium Package 4Runner ~$42K, you'd get a middle of the road Grand Cherokee.
I personally think the Grand Cherokee's look badass if you get the right package and color combo. But Chrysler products are notoriously heaping piles of shite and aren't very durable for the most part.
Chrysler has always produced clean, good looking, plush vehicles both inside and out, but took a dump under the hood. (Outside of the Hemi)
You'll be pleased with 4Runner Premium. I'd wait until 2018's are released then scoop up a 2017 model.
Just my opinion.

Owner of a 2000 4Runner SR5 w/just over 200,000 miles. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. No issues except routine maintenance. It all depends on if you're leasing or buying...if you want to lease go JC but FCA is crap on resale & reliability. Tahoe/Yukon are nice but much more expensive & not nearly as reliable. If you're buying I would highly recommend 4Runner. It's a true body on frame SUV & tough as hell. Also really like the power rear window in the 4Runner. I get a lot of use out of it.

My wife has a 14 4 Runner Limited and she loves it. She had an 06 Limited and it was great too. Wish they still offered the V8 though.

Own an '06 Sport 4x4, 230K miles, very trouble free and only thing Ive had to replace is alternator and just did A/C compressor. Would buy again, extremely reliable, tows my 22' bayboat (not great but works for my needs). Interior isn't super spacious and it's really still a truck (not a lot of bells and whistles).

Still driving my 1997 4Runner. I see the 1997 and 1998 models on the road all the time. It's got 230,000 miles and have never had a major problem. Last mechanic I took it to told me it was just now getting broken in.
Posted on 6/15/17 at 10:23 pm to NCCAOKIUNHLSU
It better be for your daughter! But all joking aside they are reliable.

I have an 09. 130k on it. Ive had to change the oil, front brake pads and the battery(after 7 years) I've owned just about every brand of vehicle but this was my first Toyota. I'm driving it til the wheels fall off then buying another Toyota. Nothing ever breaks.
