Happened to me last year in BR. Somehow they created a pretty convincing LA driver's license with all of my information on it.

spent about $8K at Best Buy on Apple laptops, opened up a LOC at Zales in the Mall of LA & bought a $5K chain & protection plan, then tried to open up LOC at all kinds of places. Ulta, Jared Jewelers, AT&T accounts, among many other places.

Ended up having to freeze all of my credit & flagged my SSN. Fun times.

Filed a police report with BRPD & it took them over a week to get back with me. During that time I had to play detective all on my own. Went to each place where they did damage & talked to managers, employees, etc. They all described the same person but all said that it was company policy to basically not give me any information. Only the BB general manager was helpful enough to provide a security camera pic of the guy.

Finally got a call back from BRPD detective in the cyber crimes division that was assigned to my case. Guy was a complete a-hole & pretty much conceded the fact that they never catch the people doing this. He was also mad at me for writing a letter to the DA & state police stating that his department was absolutely worthless. He scolded me for writing it to which I responded that he was proving my point of his worthlessness.

I handed BRPD everything they needed on a silver platter & they did nothing with it. Said that they could not access the security footage at the Mall of LA because they did not have the resources nor authority.

My advice.
1. File a police report immediately (but only for documentation purposes - don't expect shite else from them because they are indeed worthless, especially if its with BRPD)
2. Get LifeLock - they were extremely helpful in consolidating & addressing all of the fraudulent charges with the various creditors.
3. Lock & freeze your SSN & all set alerts for all of you own legit personal LOC including your mortgage company.
4. Yes it sucks. But I don't think that the folks that did this to you have any interest in coming after you. All they were interested in was free shite.

Good luck & stay vigilant.

He loves his community. He loves God. The saddest part in all this to me is that his views and principles are no different than mine. The left hates us. There are no other words to put it.

Extremely well said. I have been struggling to put it in words, so thank you. I feel the exact same way.

I will only add that we have 2 young girls that we are raising in this crazy world. Charlie was only 31 years old & was going to be a strong voice & leader for them to look up to. He gave me hope for them. Like Trump said, he truly was the best of America. And they stole him from us. They stole him from my girls & the rest of the youth of America.

RIP Charlie Kirk
The Untold History of the United States, Ukraine on Fire, JFK Revisited, etc all pretty damn good.

Wish Oliver Stone would do more in depth, period piece documentaries

Not saying i don’t like KB. He is the best at his craft. But would interesting to see Stone take on the CW or Revolution in his style.
I deal with HF all the time within petro-refining & refrigerant manufacturing. Very nasty shite.

But i am genuinely curious as well, why exactly would this event result in a massive HF release? What are they using the HF acid for in lithuim battery manufacturing?

If you can’t see nor understand that the US govt operated & controlled not one, but two, successful coups in Ukraine, then you are beyond to be reasoned with. The Obama regime & Joe Biden himself installed Ukrainian leadership multiple times. Provoked color revolutions mimicking exactly what you saw here with Antifa and the “mostly peaceful protests” leading up to the 2020 election NATO, with the backing of the CIA, have goaded Putin into a military response against Ukraine since Obama took office. It was Barack Obama that exploded the corruption on both sides. He had a chance to stop it but he was weak & instead he embraced it. Biden’s crackhead son was on the board of a Ukrainian O&G company for frick’s sake.

If you can’t connect just those simple dots laid out for you, then you are simply lost for all reasoning & logic. Which is likely why you let another man, with whom you had no previous affiliation, give you a blumpkin.

PS. It indeed was you boasting on here that you let a random guy blow you, while you ate cereal out of another guys arse, as the previous poster had mentioned.

We did it about a month ago one Sunday. I have a 3 year old & an 11 month old. I put the 11 month old on my back in a carrier & the 3 year old "hiked" everything but the last climb back up to the parking lot. We packed some fruit & beef jerky for them to snack on & a few bottles of water. We were just fine. You only need a few hours out there.

It was dry so mud wasn't an issue. We hiked to the 2nd waterfall & let them play around a bit & they had a blast.

Both kids were sound asleep before I could put the truck in gear.

On a side note, I did have to yell at some little shithead 10 year old who was hurling huge chunks of hardened clay from off the top of the waterfall where my little girl was playing. Huge one missed her by about 6 feet & I went fricking ballistic. His parents tried to tell me that he didn't mean to do it & that it was an accident. I watched the little shite pick it up with the intent to throw it off all the while I was telling him not to. Sorry to hijack. But this thread just reminded me about it & made my blood boil again at the kid & his shitty travel ball parents.
I fricking hope so.

I just this morning got an update on a guy I knew from college days.

Early 40's, white collar, middle class guy that Fentanyl & Heroin have completely taken over his life. Lost it all. His job, wife, young kids, college savings, 401K, etc. He still refuses to admit he has a drug problem & has pretty much conceded on all of the above that he has lost.

It's truly sad but he is the definition of a lost cause & probably won't be alive much longer considering the path he is on. It's only a matter of time.

It's amazing & scary as to how much destruction that needle can do.

I hope Trump goes scorched earth on those frickers.
I have to think that repealing Obama's Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012 would create a huge problem for their future frickery. I'll admit, I am not exactly sure that simply an EO by Trump would take care of that.

"The U.S. Information and Educational Exchange Act of 1948 (Public Law 80-402), popularly called the Smith–Mundt Act, was first introduced by Congressman Karl E. Mundt (R-SD) in January 1945 in the 79th Congress. It was subsequently passed by the 80th Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman on January 27, 1948.

The Act was developed to regulate broadcasting of programs for foreign audiences produced under the guidance by the State Department, and it prohibited domestic dissemination of materials produced by such programs as one of its provisions. The original version of the Act was amended by the Smith–Mundt Modernization Act of 2012 which allowed for materials produced by the State Department and the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) to be made available within the United States."

Also, I think there was another one that quietly passed during the GWB/Dick Cheney administration after 9/11 that gave the MSM more latitude with their reporting. But I could be mistaken.

re: More Great News.....Kamala Related

I am more excited about Obama's light fading into darkness where it belongs.

After all, him & his ilk have been running this country in the dirt for the past 12 years. I say 12 because of the sabotage they inflicted on Trump's first term. If they would have quit with all the impeachment distractions, Trump probably would have accomplished even more.

This victory is more over him than Kamala in my opinion.
Its pretty convenient that they love showing photos of Trump with Epstein in a villainizing fashion, but they refuse to release the Maxwell client list.
quote:

You nor anybody will ever have any evidence the mother was in on sexually assaulting her children.

Exactly. The defense attorneys knew that.

Their two main evidential arguments to prove sexual abuse were:

A.) testimony from an aunt that claimed when Eric was 9 or 10 years old, he allegedly told her he was sexually abused by his father. The Aunt then claimed that she confronted the mom about it, to which she denied. Then the Aunt admits that it was never mentioned again. She never talked to Eric about it, nor the parents.

B.) naked photos of the boys when they were young that were found in the house. the claim that the dad, being the sexual predator that he was, took these photos & kept them because he was a pedophile.

None of the above can be definitively proven to be true. The jury also saw through all that BS.
quote:

But they wanted the money

BINGO!

This is the real reason right here. IMO, they wanted their inheritance. Which is why they knocked the mom off too. Needed her outta the way because they likely knew she had power of attorney over the dad's estate in the event of his passing. Not because they wanted to "end her suffering". That's horse & bullshite mixed together.

Well documented that they went on a lavish spending spree shortly after, all while playing up the victim card that their parents were just brutally murdered.

They could have left the abusive parental relationship. But that would mean they likely would have had to give up their privileged lifestyle. They intentionally did NOT choose that path.

They CHOSE to kill their parents & create a false alibi. Only when they realized the gig was up after the one brother spilled the beans, did they again play the victim card. Those motherfrickers are sociopaths. Through & through.

Were their parents pieces of shite?? By all accounts. YES.
Did the dad sexually abuse both boys?? Allegedly. But no evidence was ever produced beyond a reasonable doubt.
Did both boys lie in wait to murder their parents with shotguns? YES.

The sexual abuse angle in my opinion was brought on by their legal defense team who were likely motivated by the national attention that the case was getting, but more so for the potential of a huge payday considering the father's estate.

Greed was the motivation behind the murder of those two folks, plain & simple. Erik & Lyle don't deserve to step foot outside of a prison for the remainder of their days.
TONS of helpful advice in this thread for you & your son.

I started in kitchens at 16 yo as a prep cook, dishwasher, line cook, etc.

Fell in love with it for many reasons at the time. I loved to cook & I was certain that is what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. It was fast paced & exciting. It wasn't as glorified of a profession was it is today back then. But the thrill of putting thought into & creating something that people enjoyed brought to a young me an indescribable feeling of instant gratification.

Toyed with the notion of culinary school but had colleagues tell me that it was unnecessary for me, personally. Not to mention, I didn't have the $$ for it & was somehow wise enough not to go into debt.

I was learning from guys that went to culinary schools all over the world, all the way down to seasoned line cooks with 40 years of experience & no formal training, that I would put up against the best of the best. I did it all the way through graduating LSU. Managed BOTH at handful of fine dining restaurants. Started a successful catering business. etc.

I can tell you this from my experience. Some of which echoes throughout this thread. Around 25-26 years old, I looked around my industry & saw that almost all of my peers were batting drug & alcohol addiction. My own drug & alcohol intake was crossing the line from recreational to just stopping short of full on abuse. Some died from it. Some lost their families over it or had no families at all because of it. Almost none had any acumen in running a successful business or accounting backgrounds. Those were the ones that were taken advantage of & tossed aside when investors started pulling their money out of various establishments.

I chose to get out of that life mainly because I wanted a family & I knew my personality & that following that career path any further would not allow me a successful family like I had envisioned. So I was fortunate enough to get out into an entirely different career path. I now have a wife & two kids that adore their Daddy & I don't regret the decision one bit. (especially after seeing what Covid did to the industry - my goodness)

The high-stress, hours & workload take a serious toll on your personal life & you both have to be willing to face that fact. I say "you both" because he will likely not be home to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, Father's Day, Mother's Day, etc. And when you do finally get to see or talk to him on those days, he will probably be coming off of a 12 hour shift & the holiday cheer will be sucked right outta him. The work/life balance is almost always going to tilt in favor of work.

Avoid the temptation of drugs & alcohol. It's rampant in the industry.

Be prepared to not make very much money, out the gate. Most restaurants can't afford to have a lotta folks making 70-80K per year in the kitchen. If you are making that much, then the expectation is you are working your arse off.

Someone mentioned The Bear earlier & I cannot agree more that the show is an incredible depiction of the high stress, day to day shite that goes on at restaurants.

Don't want to scare your son off from chasing a dream. Coming from someone that seems was in his shoes at one point, I was just hoping to shed some light on the reality of it & to the fact that being a professional chef is not as glamorous as the Food Network makes it seem.

I suggest that he go stage a few places to see with his own eyes, exactly what he is getting himself into. But I would also suggest making a plan in doing that as well for him to experience all ends of the spectrum. Try to stage at a major hotel/resort or where it's more of a professional setting (high end & high volume). A local, well established successful "mom & pop" operation to see their struggles & how they manage staff/food cost. Even a corporate kitchen of a high-end chain restaurant, like Ruth's Chris or Pappa's restaurant in Houston to see that aspect of it. All of them operate differently.

Good Luck to your son. He will find his way. Keep us posted.
chicken thighs are great in a crawfish boil. the little thin cut pork chops that come in a family pack are also good.

I have thrown all kinds of shite in a crawfish boil just to see how it comes out because why not. Everything comes out just like you would expect it to, really.

Pineapple chunks
Brussels Sprouts (also really good)
Peanuts (took forever)
Asparagus
Edamame
Carrots (not the baby ones, peeled & cut into large chunks)
Squash & Zucchini

Shrooms & Garlic are my personal favorite though

I promise you won’t be disappointed if you watch the movie referenced.

Quite the opposite of woke & progressive. And absolutely hysterical.
His biggest issue is that our media is corrupted.

Muir is a total piece of shite.
Can’t believe no mention of Leander Perez yet.

He had as much to do with the corruption in this state, if not more, than any of the Long’s did.

All that local history from that era is both fascinating & depressing to me. Especially Perez. He sort of flys under the radar as far as pieces of shite that sold this state down the river, goes. People all wanna shove it on Long but i would argue him & his buddies were the ones who ultimately held full swing over Long & LA’s greatest natural resources during such a pivotal era.

re: Looking for new toilet recs

I just got a Toto installed in my master bathroom. Replaced builders model Glacier Bay which would clog when I would take a piss in it.

I have an older home on a largeish lot where the sewer & utilities run along the back of the property about 100' from the house. Plumber said these newer, high efficiency toilets don't have enough arse to move that far.

I was dead set on a pressure assisted flush but he talked me into a Toto. Said that the Toto was Japanese made/designed & they have been on top of water conservation for about 40 years longer than we have in the USA, so they had it figured out. :dunno:

I took his advice & have been very pleased.

I will go pressure assisted in the 1/2 bath that all of our guests use, though. Not messing around there. Nothing worse than having a house full of people over for a small gathering & having to unclog a toilet that your wife's friend just blew up. :spank:
